A character-filled 1920s home overlooking Hyde Park has a surprising connection to Hollywood, having served as the family home and creative workspace of music industry veteran Malcolm Luker for 34 years.

With a career spanning more than 50 years, Malcolm has worked on major film productions, including Shrek, Pirates of the Caribbean, Black Hawk Down, The Equalizer and Cowboys & Aliens, as well as contributing to the music production of the popular Call of Duty video game franchise.
During his time at the five-bedroom Mount Lawley property, several rooms served as his music studio, bringing a touch of Hollywood to Perth.
The home has also welcomed some memorable guests, with members of our WA state orchestra's gathering for dinners and impromptu musical performances.
“We've hosted some wonderful evenings here over the years, with members of our WA state orchestra's joining us for dinners that sometimes turned into impromptu musical performances. One particularly memorable moment was surprising my wife with a visit from Simon Baker in our kitchen during the filming of Breath,” Malcolm said.
Beyond its creative history, the residence retains much of its 1920s charm, with original jarrah floors, leadlight doors, high ceilings and decorative timber fretwork.

Over the years, the property has been extended to include spacious family living areas, a north-facing swimming pool, spa and outdoor kitchen, creating a setting for countless gatherings with family, friends and fellow creatives.
“We've always loved entertaining here. The outdoor kitchen, pool and spa have been the setting for countless gatherings with family and friends. I also love the home's original character, from the stained-glass doors to the old-fashioned lamp post by the pool, and of course having Hyde Park right across the road,” Malcolm said.

The five-bedroom, two-bathroom home also offers secure off-street parking for four cars.
After 34 years of ownership, the property at 72 Vincent Street, Mount Lawley, is now on the market, ready for a new family to make their own memories and add another chapter to its remarkable story.
