"This guide will take you through the steps to start your real estate career in Western Australia with your best foot forward. "
Are you thinking about a career in real estate but not sure where to start? If you’re fascinated by property market trends, love meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals, a career in real estate could be the perfect fit for you.
This guide will take you through the steps to start your real estate career in Western Australia with your best foot forward.
The first step is to complete the required real estate course. REIWA Training offers Unrestricted Registration (covering both Property Manager course and Sales) as well as Restricted Registration if you prefer to focus on either Property Management or Sales, not both. Choose the real estate course that suits you:
Upon completing your chosen course, you have up to three years to register with the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS – more commonly known as Consumer Protection), the WA real estate industry regulator. Real estate professionals must be registered with DMIRS to practise real estate in WA.
You’ve completed your training and registered with DMIRS, now it’s time to immerse yourself in the world of real estate. Find an agency or a licensed agent that aligns with your values and who you believe you can learn the most from. You’re now able to pursue your passion for property and help clients find their new home, office space, rural or industry property, or even a small business – the options are endless and the work varied!
If you’re planning to work for yourself or become an agency licensee, you will need two years of experience under your belt and to have completed the CPP51119 Diploma of Property (Agency Management).
Reputation: REIWA and our members are renowned for upholding the highest professional standards in the industry.
Expert trainers: Our trainers are still active in the industry, as high-performing agents, award-winning licensees and principals (including a past president of REIWA), directors and owners of agencies.
Industry leader: We have our finger on the pulse of real estate which ensures our training courses are up-to-date, relevant and practical.
Work experience: Students get exclusive access to REI Forms, RP Data, and other essential tools of the trade which REIWA provides to our members, and job-ready practical learning at our simulated agency.
Assessment support: Our full-time trainers guide and coach students outside of the classroom, while our dynamic calendar of events provides regular networking opportunities.
REIWA Training also offers the flexibility to complete your registration online or in-person. Our online modules allow you to work at your own pace (within your enrolment timeframe) and is suitable for those where a classroom may not fit their schedule.
Cygnet West Retail Senior Executive, AJ Ewers said REIWA’s online training platform gave him the flexibility to complete the training around his schedule, raising a family while still working full-time in his previous career as a personal trainer.
