The small country town of Denmark is making waves with more interest from people looking to call the popular tourist destination their next home. 

Famous for its world-class beaches, sky-high trees, hilly terrain and local produce and vineyards, the Great Southern town received 25,098 views on in the first six months of 2021 from people looking to buy. 

Despite being a five-hour drive from Perth, Denmark was the 13th most viewed suburb on to buy in the first half of 2021. Whilst this doesn’t seem that high, it beat popular Perth suburbs like Mandurah (22,758 views) and Baldivis (24,270 views). Plus, it was the number one most viewed regional town, overtaking Dunsborough (16,187 views) and Margaret River (13,233 views) where the population is more than double. 

Life in Denmark 

Since the working from home trend picked up after the onset of COVID-19, many West Aussies were quick to jump on board, making the trend their new norm. As a result, many people are valuing lifestyle over convenience, choosing to live in our beautiful regional towns rather than in the city. 

In addition to this, word on the ground from local Denmark real estate agents is that there is increasing interest from overseas and interstate buyers looking to purchase property in WA, where the economic and social impacts of COVID-19 are more minimal. 

The Denmark lifestyle also offers one that is relaxed, simple and features some of the best sights that WA has to offer, including Greens Pool, Peaceful Bay and Valley of the Giants Treetops Walk. 

For those thinking of making a sea change, it’s no surprise that Denmark is at the top of their list. 

The Denmark property market 

With buyer interest on the rise, the Denmark property market has also seen an uptick in activity, with properties that were on the market for years selling and a shortage of stock.  

The popular town has seen sales activity increased by 32 per cent annually, with 124 sales in the 2020-21 financial year. 

There is also good news for sellers, with a 19.9 per cent increase to its median house sale price in the 2020-21 financial year. However, if you are one of the many people looking to buy in Denmark, the median house sale price remains affordable at $405,000.
