Crowea Cottage

Crowea Cottage is set within 5499sqm of wonderfully private and natural bushland and could quite easily be named 'Songs of the Forest' with an everlasting serenade from the many bird species that reside here.

Designed by well renowned architect Wally Greenham to capture elements of the surrounding forest, sunlight and the ever-changing seasons the Great Southern is renowned for. Natural elements of beautifully hand-crafted wood, slate flooring and ample glass offers a constant connection to the ever-changing native flora and fauna found throughout this property.

The warm hues of natural timber and Northern light filtering throughout the home greet you from the many entrance options on offer. An abundance of covered paved or deck areas provide choices to relax throughout the day or night year round.

The open plan living, dining and kitchen areas evoke a calmness upon entry. The living area with its exposed raw edge ceiling beams is the place to relax in front of the wood fire enjoying a book and glass of wine in the winter months.

Direct access to the front deck flows from this area beautifully while the dining area extends out to the rear covered paved area extending the indoor/outdoor theme for relaxing and entertaining.

The kitchen is equipped with quality appliances, ample bench space and cupboards ensuring the master chef in you is well catered for all while overlooking your own native bush and extended entertaining areas.

The main bedroom, with high ceilings, large walk-through robe, luxurious ensuite and garden views provide a space to relax and spoil yourself.

The second bathroom with separate WC is located at the base of the stairs leading up to the second guests bedroom, art room or beautiful office space enjoying plenty of natural light and treed outlooks.

The separate self-contained studio is bathed in architect Greenham's magic as well and complements the main house beautifully. A haven to relax with its combined bedroom/sitting area, kitchenette, bathroom and loft area.

Your options abound when thinking of the many uses this gorgeous space offers. The same craftsman brush was waved throughout both dwellings with character and classic carpentry on show.

Denmark overview

The townsite of Denmark, located on the south coast 51 kilometres west of Albany, was gazetted a townsite in 1909. It is located on the Denmark River from which it derives its name, the river having been named by the explorer Dr J B Wilson RN in December 1829. Wilson named it the "Denmark" in compliment to his friend Dr. Alexander Denmark R.N. a physician to the fleet. The Aboriginal name "Koorrabup", recorded by Alfred Hillman in 1833, also refers to this area.

Although a townsite was not declared here until 1909, a settlement of this name had existed here for some years previous. A Millars Bros. Timber mill was established on the banks of the river in 1894.
