The Simpson Wellburn wood oven has real charm and doubles as a booster for the solar hot water.

Upstairs is the spacious main bedroom and a huge study both with stunning Marri timber floors and their own balconies so you have an outlook to the front or back. The main bedroom has its own ensuite and walk-in robe.

Downstairs are an additional four bedrooms and two bathrooms, with what was the original main bedroom having its own ensuite and walk-in robe. Two more bedrooms can fit a queen bed and have built-in robes.

Outside is the large gable patio with insulated panels and below ground pool making this an ideal entertaining area. The yard is pet and child friendly and you have your own mini orchard at the back with mature fruit trees and even your own chook pen.

You could park a fleet of cars at home. Starting at the front is a double carport plus an oversized garage with high ceiling. The garage has a handy separate storeroom that was once used as a photography dark room. The side access allows you to drive into the 9m by 6m (approx.) Colorbond workshop at the back. This was built with cars in mind and has a thicker slab to suit a car hoist and was also built higher to allow a mezzanine floor.

Lesmurdie overview

Like Kalamunda, the development of the "Lesmurdie" area is closely tied to the exploitation of the Jarrah forest in the region by the Canning Jarrah Timber Company Ltd. In 1897, Mr Archibald Sanderson, a Perth journalist commenced the acquisition of a number of these properties, with a view to building up a "rural retreat" and he named his property "Lesmurdie". Lesmurdie Cottage was a shooting-box in Banffshire, Scotland, near Dufftown and was let to Mr Sanderson's father for shooting. It was in memory of this cottage that Sanderson applied the name to his property.

Life in Lesmurdie
