Unbelievable but TRUE this magical 2.36Ha approximately 5.8 acres (zoned Rural) property located at 73 Pipiddiny Road Eglington is from a bygone era and is filled with character and history. The home has been in the same family for over 100 years.
Step back in time and into this single storey Colonial home of rendered stone with a steeply pitched corrugated iron roof and a wide verandah to the front and sides.
The front three rooms, hall and verandahs were built by a stone mason, Butcher Lee out of sandstone, quarried locally from the west side of Beonaddy Road. The steeply pitched corrugated iron hipped roof extends over the verandahs that encompass the north, east and south sides. Some of the heavier roof timbers were salvaged from the shipwreck of the "Alex T Brown". The mast from this ship is the main beam in the roof. The son of Aubrey Gibbs moved into the home with his family in the 1960‘s and made some changes and additions to accommodate his family of seven. One of his children still occupy the home today.
The house has the original concrete floors throughout. The inside walls at the front are lime rendered smooth and there is wallpaper to the living area and some of the bedrooms. There are four bedrooms, small living area, kitchen/dining, bathroom, laundry and vestibule under the main roof.
There are some Fig trees down two sides of the house and a huge loquat tree planted in, the 1900’s. Mature Tuart trees (Eucalyptus gomphocephala) are extent on the property, one with approximately an 8 metre girth. Abundant fruit, nut and olive trees and one of the largest Mulberry trees I have ever seen. The selection includes, Peach, Apple, Orange, Plum, Fig, and Pear to mention a few.
The remnants (open fronted shed) of the dairy cool room and cow shed, built c1946 out of cement bricks is 60 metres to the west of the house. This was also used as a shearing shed in the Iate 1950's and a piggery in the early 1960's.
Over the years the land has had many uses including running cattle and market gardening but now it is simply a haven for an array of wildlife, birdlife and home to many kangaroos.
Thw land is fenced and has been lovingly well kept. It will take you to another place when you stroll through the paddocks and leave the hustle and bustle behind.
Adjoining Yanchep National Park on the East side and only 1.7km from the Eglington Train Station.
Work in the City but live in the Country. Shopping Centres, Private and Public Schools, Romeo Road Freeway entrance and the magnificent coastline of Alkimos, Eglington, & Yanchep are only a stone’s throw away.
