Home Sweet Home

Located in a quiet cul-de-sac around 1km from the top of town this sweet, tidy home in a private position with beautiful gardens would suit investors, downsizers and first home buyers alike.

Parents with young children will love living here and the short time it takes to walk to school whilst others will appreciate the proximity to town for shopping, cafés and restaurants.

Set well-back from the road you enter the private front courtyard filled with native plants that attract the birds, as well as a weeping mulberry and olive tree - this is a gorgeous spot for quiet contemplation. The front door opens into a spacious room that is separated from the rest of the home via a sliding door and can serve as a second lounge room, large home-office/treatment room, or separate dining room (whatever suits your lifestyle). The master bedroom is off to the left overlooking the front courtyard and has a large walk-in robe and semi en-suite bathroom with separate bathtub and shower.

The kitchen-dining/living area is a lovely space with a slow combustion woodfire and well-appointed kitchen. This room extends out to the north-facing alfresco which has café blinds for year-round comfort. The backyard is a real delight with established and well-maintained lawn, large garden bed, small workshop and wood shed. Along the eastern side of the home is a covered orchard with highly productive apricot, fig and peach trees.

The additional 2 minor bedrooms both have built in robes and views of the lovely backyard. Lastly, there's a laundry with toilet and access to the side of the house with undercover parking for three cars and the wood storage area. There is additional parking for guests on the front lawn and turn-around space.

This very comfortable and cosy home offers beautifully self-contained living.

Margaret River overview

The townsite of Margaret River is located in the south west agricultural area, 277 kilometres south southwest of Perth and 48 kilometres south southwest of Busselton. It is located on the Margaret River from which it derives its name. The precise origin of the naming of the river is not known, but it was possibly named by John Bussell in honour of Margaret Wyche, a friend in England who was expected to follow the Bussell's to Australia. The name is first shown on a map of the region published in 1839.

In 1910 the Margaret River Progress Association wrote to the Minister for Lands requesting a townsite be declared at "the Upper Margaret Bridge". The reason given was that "the district is likely to be dotted with public buildings several miles apart in the near future if a townsite is not made available shortly". The District Surveyor who inspected the area preferred an area near the lower bridge on Caves Road, but this land was not available. Lots were surveyed in 1912, and the Townsite of Margaret River gazetted in 1913. In 1918 the name of the townsite was changed to "Margaret", but it was changed back to Margaret River in 1927, due to local usage of the name always being Margaret River.
