Eversden House

Welcome to the Eversden House; an authentic step back through time. The journey started over a century ago for this very special character home, built in circa 1906. Transformed over the years yet leaving a majestic and timeless showpiece.

Properties like this, steeped in local history don't come to market very often. Originally a 140-acre dairy farm, it later became the Kaolunga Orchard. The original cottage now sits comfortably on 2269sqm.

Character abounds with high ceilings, jarrah flooring, ornate cornices, ceiling rose, lead light windows and much more! Featuring four bedrooms, separate dining, gourmet kitchen, lounge, living room, a study and two bathrooms, plus a studio and swimming pool. If you are looking for character plus functionality, this much-loved family residence will tick all the boxes for you.

Enter the property up a sweeping driveway, past parkland gardens, rolling lawn and well-established trees (some close to 80 years old). The residence is jarrah weatherboard with modern Colourbond roofing.

Be wowed by the way the internal spaces are true to character yet reflect a modern style of living. The huge country style kitchen has a brand new Q Stone engineered quartz bench tops, oversized central island bench and ample storage. Kitchen cabinetry is Baltic pine (some preserved from the original cottage). The semi walk-in pantry features reclaimed doors from the Fremantle Court House. A laundry and storage room is conveniently placed off the kitchen.

The family room and separate cosy lounge room offers plenty of opportunity for the family to grow and still have their own dedicated spaces. The light fittings are all in keeping with the era of the home and are pieces of art in their own right. A touch of traditional jarrah wall paneling and dado rails as well as exposed wooden beams sourced from the Fremantle wharf are a unique feature.

The main and two minor bedrooms are downstairs, whilst the fourth bedroom is in the upstairs loft featuring unique pressed tin throughout (originally from St Brigid's College). The master bedroom also features the same pressed tin, adding charm and ambience to this restful room. Adjacent is a walk through robe and ensuite bathroom, with double vanities and a new shower. The main bathroom retains its original (fully restored) iron claw bathtub and antique vanity which are functional yet very stylish.

Outside there is so much to love and enjoy. Summers are spent in the swimming pool between the main residence and the studio. It has a winter cover (concealed roller) and summer cover which allows for extended use of the pool and ease of cleaning.

The 8m x 6m (approx.) studio has reverse cycle air-con, good lighting, its own alarm system. Imagine what you could create; a man cave, teenage retreat or games room.

There is a carport, workshop (powered) and garden shed, perfect for the home handyman/woman… and all that extra storage space.

The gardens and lawns are truly stunning. Meticulous design and planting make this garden look like much more work than it is, giving you ample time to sit and enjoy it with your favourite glass. With two ancient oak trees and a beautifully aged Liquid Amber, a grove of birches, hedging, fruit trees, and bulbs ready to burst into flower, this garden gives endless seasonal joy. Opposite the property is a sprawling park with grass, shade and playground.

Lesmurdie overview

Like Kalamunda, the development of the "Lesmurdie" area is closely tied to the exploitation of the Jarrah forest in the region by the Canning Jarrah Timber Company Ltd. In 1897, Mr Archibald Sanderson, a Perth journalist commenced the acquisition of a number of these properties, with a view to building up a "rural retreat" and he named his property "Lesmurdie". Lesmurdie Cottage was a shooting-box in Banffshire, Scotland, near Dufftown and was let to Mr Sanderson's father for shooting. It was in memory of this cottage that Sanderson applied the name to his property.
