Parkside perfection

Your backyard just got bigger, baby.

Parkland aplenty in a perfectly prime position? That’s the daily reality of this gorgeous green-title home sitting right opposite Shearn Park. But the winning doesn’t stop at the location (although being on the border of Inglewood and Mount Lawley is certainly something to celebrate) because you’re also cheering for the warm, eclectic vibe and lovely, low-maintenance outdoor spaces here. This really is a property with heart and knock-your-socks-off sweetness from the light and bright open-plan living to the French doors that invite the outside in, from the fully fenced, decked front courtyard to the grassy backyard for the pup to play. Inside boasts a nod to the original character, like the feature brick wall in the living space and the absolutely glowing jarrah floorboards. The cleverly renovated kitchen is a delight with subway tiling, overhead cabinetry, and integrated appliances. Plus the built-in wine rack, because, priorities. Both bedrooms are great-sized, filled with natural light, and offer serene views of the backyard. The main features built-in robes and its own (blissful) air con, and there’s a practical bathroom plus separate laundry with a WC to keep your affection alive.

Location-wise, this is the cream of the crop. Besides the ripper convenience, you’ve also got the juiciest serve of chef’s kiss reasons to settle here. You’re literally a 550m strut to Maylands Train Station, making the commute to the CBD a total breeze. Although with Beaufort Street (700m) so close, you may never want to go further than that! Your new local hit list includes icons like Volare (600m), Mrs S Café (700m), and the double-threat of Lyrics Bar (750m) and The Seasonal Brewing Co. (750m). If your love language is carbs or a killer brew, Sherbet Café & Bake Shop (800m), Wild Bakery (900m), and Finlay & Sons (1.4km) are waiting for you, while dinner is sorted at Chakra (850m), Threecoins & Sons (1.1km), Testun Bar (1.2km), or Local & Aesthetic Café (1.2km). You can even cap it off with a casual vino at Bar Vino & Willing Coffee (1.3km) or the Inglewood Hotel (850m). When adulting, you’ve got Woolworths Inglewood (950m), The Good Grocer IGA (1.2km) and Aldi (1.2km) all within strolling or scootering distance, plus Goodlife Health Club (800m), the cycle path along the railway line, and Mount Lawley Tennis (1.6km) and Golf Clubs (2km) for when you need to move your body. Even the school run is top-shelf - you’re in the catchment for Inglewood Primary and Mount Lawley Senior High Schools, and there’s easy access to Perth College, St Paul’s, St Peter’s Primary and Chisholm College too.

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
