'SUNSET RIDGE' - sprawling indulgence

Think of a country lifestyle, city convenience and then add absolute indulgent living to the mix and you have arrived at 34 Holmes Road, Maida Vale also affectionately named 'SUNSET RIDGE'.

Yes, perched up high on the ridge of the Maida Vale escarpment this magnificent near two acre estate has cleverly dovetailed the finer things in life with the earthen and wholesome nature of spacious rural living all thanks to the current owners vision, creativity and abundant investment. What once could be described as a humble and traditional 80's style rural property has now been transformed into a 'Contemporary Country Estate'. From corner to corner both inside and outside this property has been renovated, extended and heavily landscaped to reveal the full potential of such a prime property.

Living up to its name 'SUNSET RIDGE' takes full advantage of its elevated position capturing the beautiful sunsets and twinkling coastal lights at night. Unlike most escarpment elevations this 7692m2 block is uniquely fully useable and caters for the potential to keep some livestock or a horse or two (subject to approvals).

A wide spanning 94.5 m frontage also permits convenient triple gated access to both the residence, the workshop and paddocks with automatic gated entry leading to the home's circular driveway and double garage. A feeling of anticipation starts to build as you approach the home with a large formal front courtyard setting the scene of what's to come featuring exposed aggregate flooring, timber decking and of course a bold and stately front door.

Upon entering the home the floor plan as one would imagine is vast, light filled and exudes a soft sophistication that is both welcoming and luxurious. The heart of the home is a huge open plan design that incorporates a super sized and customised high-end kitchen with large dining area featuring bifold doors that effortlessly interconnect outdoor and indoor entertaining. Adjoining the dining area is a large raised family room with integrated TV and feature ethanol fireplace that also connect to the outdoor alfresco area making this home one versatile entertaining hub. For more intimate and cosy nights there is a home theatre that is separate to the main living hub with built in book shelves and walk-in storage area.

The craftsmanship and thought behind remodeling and extending this home is absolutely gob smacking and if you thought the heart of the home was amazing get prepared to visit the Master bedroom wing- it's just divine! From the towering ceilings and windows to the ultra modern ensuite to the oversized walk-in robe its got the word pamper written all over it. There are three additional bedrooms one being queen size and an additional two extra bathrooms that will service the largest of families. If your working from home these days a large study is conveniently located at the front of the home with an external door close by ideal for client visits.

Although we have made some minor mentions about the external features of this property let me remind you again it's all about entertaining and rural practicality. On the entertaining side there is a colossal sized private below ground pool with pagoda, large alfresco with café blinds, bar / kitchen servery, rustic fire pit, nature playground and basketball court area. And on the practical side you have a large 3 phase powered workshop and huge paddock with two bores ready for those hobbies and rural pursuits.

Maida Vale overview

This area was first settled in 1873 by William Henry Mead. He built a home in the Ridge Hill area, and established an orchard named "Orangedale". The name of Maida Vale was chosen as the district name by a public meeting of local residents in 1910, and comes from the property name of another early settler, Mr W H McCormack. It is assumed that the name was derived from that of the west London suburb of this name, which in turn is named after Maida (S. Pietro di Maida) in Calabria, Italy. The British Army defeated the French there in 1806, and in commemoration of the victory Maida Hall and Maida Vale were named.

Life in Maida Vale

Within the suburb there is a primary school, Maida Vale Primary School, a golf course, numerous parks/ovals, small shops, and a heated swimming pool. Maida Vale retains areas of natural bushland and is not completely built-up with housing.
