Timeless Federation Grandeur in a Coveted Location.

Every now and then, a truly special home comes to market—this is one of those rare finds. A grand 1905 Federation residence with an impressive tuckpointed facade, wide decked verandah with elegant balustrading, and stunning encaustic tiled steps, all set behind a charming white picket fence provide a picture perfect entrance. The beautifully landscaped front garden provides a private sanctuary, while the verandah enjoys a serene outlook over Charles Street Reserve.

Step inside, and the home’s rich history unfolds. Timber floorboards, soaring ceilings, intricate cornices, and delicate pressed tin detailing create a sense of old-world elegance. To the right of the entrance, the primary bedroom features a stunning fireplace, built-in robes, and a modern ensuite, while three additional bedrooms and a classically styled Federation bathroom with a clawfoot bathtub complete the front half of the home.

At the rear, the home opens up into a magnificent full-height extension, where a luxurious design seamlessly complements period charm. The exquisite kitchen is a showstopper, featuring an enormous island bench, stone tops, a freestanding black Smeg cooker, a pressed tin splashback, and a well-appointed butler’s pantry. Accessed nearby, a vast attic space with numerous storage options offers endless possibilities.

Designed for both entertaining and relaxed family living, the open-plan dining and living areas connect effortlessly to the decked alfresco, where an outdoor fireplace and an aspect to CBD skyline create an unforgettable setting. Beyond, a lush lawned backyards provides plenty of space for children and pets to play, while a substantial double garage and powered workshop with laneway access complete this remarkable offering.

Perfectly positioned in a sought-after enclave, just moments from Kinky Lizard, the buzzing Whatley Crescent café strip, and Maylands Train Station, this extraordinary home is a rare opportunity to secure a piece of Federation history—elegantly restored and beautifully appointed for modern living.

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
