Got great expectations?

They’ll be exceeded here.

When you think ‘townhouse’, you generally think ‘compact’ or ‘poky’, right? Well here’s the notable exception to that rule! It’s a spacious 2x2 that lets you hold onto that urban lifestyle you adore while also giving you room to raise a couple of kiddos - or a couple of furry family members. Best of all, it’s in a lovely boutique set of 4 so you’re not squished in, sardine-style. Downstairs is the living space where storage is abundant, the footprint is flexible, and the potential for hosting decent gatherings is definitely on the cards. The sweet atrium with its decking and garage access brings oodles of light and charm to the dining area while the courtyard is a great option for casual drinks on a Sunday arvo. Split system aircon makes the whole space comfy year-round. Same upstairs, too, with both bedrooms made magnificent thanks to the aircon units, plentiful windows, and fresh carpeting. Both are also generously sized, with the minor bedroom almost a bit of a behemoth. It features 2 built-in robes and is sensational as a shared kids’ room. That’s not to say the main bedroom is puny. Nope, this is pretty grand as well, so you can sprawl out in a big bed and still have space for all your other stuff. If you tend towards maximalism, have lifestyle plans that require more space than your average townhouse, or are tickled at the idea of being able to do cartwheels through your house, bump this big beaut to the top of your list.

Location-wise, Maylands is a cracker of a spot if you want to live large (even if it’s just every now and then). The social precinct is an easy 220m from your door so you can meet up with mates whenever the mood strikes. Volare (450m) and Seasonal Brewing (850m) are crowd pleasers when it comes to enjoying a bevvy, and there are more than a handful of cafes nearby to tickle your fancy - give Sherbert (400m) or Mrs. S Cafe (500m) a red hot go. Pizzeria Amore Mio (450m) will satisfy even the biggest tiramisu cravings but don’t forget that you can always stay in and cook at home. Coles is 400m and IGA 550m, so you’re sorted for groceries. If you’re feeling underwhelmed in your current place or just need some more wriggle room, this is your sign to upgrade to something more substantial.

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
