Federation Red Brick Beauty

With whispers from the past of crackling fires and home cooked meals this appealing Federation home is now for sale. The red brick, high gable roof façade with bull nose verandah is set behind a picket fence on a 1019 square meter block.

Inside, heritage features grace the original part of the home. Extra high ceilings, high wood skirting boards, wood panel ceilings and wood floors are the backdrop for your own personal touch. Two fireplaces, both with ornate wood surrounds, remain in the two rooms just inside the front door. Along the central hallway there are two additional bedrooms that have wood panel ceiling and form part of the original floor plan. All bedrooms have ceiling fans and the master bedroom has a reverse cycle airconditioner and wood heater.

At the end of the hallway a large dine-in kitchen opens to an informal living room with French doors that lead to a small courtyard. Added to the original home is a laundry with shower and toilet. The bathroom retains a bath, and there are two toilets.

The backyard can be accessed by vehicles from the rear lane and also through gates at the side of the house. There you will find a double carport.

Narrogin overview

The townsite of Narrogin is located in the great southern agricultural region, 192 km south east of Perth and 32 km east north east of Williams. It is located on the Great Southern Railway, and when this line was opened in 1889, Narrogin was one of the original stopping places. The railway line was a private line, and the Company that built the line declared a private townsite here in 1891. The railway was purchased by the Government in 1896, and in 1897 Narrogin was gazetted as a government townsite.

Narrogin is an Aboriginal name, having been first recorded as "Narroging" for a pool in this area in 1869. The meaning of the name is uncertain, various sources recording it as "bat camp", "plenty of everything" or derived from "gnargagin" which means "place of water".
