Live the high life in Margaret River

Welcome to this very special home capturing the essence of Margaret River living. Its elevated position provides commanding views over the treetops while honey-coloured timber flooring lends a warm, natural feel.

A striking renovation has resulted in an exceptionally groovy living space with a generous dining section and two sitting areas, one on a split level, all warmed by a stunning wood heater. The central kitchen is the hub of the home with stone benchtops including a large breakfast bar section near the dining table, two new ovens to make cooking a breeze, and glorious treetop views to the east.
Glass doors off the dining area open out to a protected alfresco deck that's enclosed on 3 sides and extends your living and entertaining options (there's also a storeroom off here). Verandah living is found on the eastern and northern sides of the home where you can sit back and soak up the sunshine while enjoying the long-distance vistas and connection to the fabulous backyard.

There is certainly plenty of room for everyone here with 4 generous bedrooms featuring new lush carpets and stylish ceiling fans. The main bedroom is spacious with extensive built-in storage and its beautifully bright and modern en-suite bathroom has a deep bathtub for ultimate relaxation. The 3 minor bedrooms and 2nd bathroom are off a rear hallway, separated from the main living area by feature barn doors. All with built-in robes, the bedrooms have garden views and the lovely bathroom has semi-ensuite access from the central bedroom. A laundry and a separate toilet are at the far end of the hallway, with the laundry having sliding door access to the covered alfresco deck.

The verdant yet low-maintenance backyard has a tropical vibe, and significant retaining creates practical, level areas. Fully fenced, gated and secure, the yard also features liquid limestone pathways and BBQ area. Wide, side access ensures there is a safe place for the boat, caravan or tradies tools and very useful under house storage includes covered wood storage. Lastly, the extra-large double carport offers protection from the elements for both you and your vehicles.

About a 10 minute walk takes you to the top of the Main Street, and it's just 650m to the fabulous Drift Café for one of the best all-day breakfasts around. This highly sought-after location is also an easy walk to the Barrett Street Weir, so the Margaret River is easily accessed for morning or evening walks or mountain biking adventures!

Margaret River overview

The townsite of Margaret River is located in the south west agricultural area, 277 kilometres south southwest of Perth and 48 kilometres south southwest of Busselton. It is located on the Margaret River from which it derives its name. The precise origin of the naming of the river is not known, but it was possibly named by John Bussell in honour of Margaret Wyche, a friend in England who was expected to follow the Bussell's to Australia. The name is first shown on a map of the region published in 1839.

In 1910 the Margaret River Progress Association wrote to the Minister for Lands requesting a townsite be declared at "the Upper Margaret Bridge". The reason given was that "the district is likely to be dotted with public buildings several miles apart in the near future if a townsite is not made available shortly". The District Surveyor who inspected the area preferred an area near the lower bridge on Caves Road, but this land was not available. Lots were surveyed in 1912, and the Townsite of Margaret River gazetted in 1913. In 1918 the name of the townsite was changed to "Margaret", but it was changed back to Margaret River in 1927, due to local usage of the name always being Margaret River.
