The world recedes as you travel down a long driveway and arrive at the welcome of this home’s wide front verandah. Inside, an urban sensibility blends effortlessly with the Hills setting, with varying shades of a single tone of soft grey used across the interiors and richly-toned timber-look floors extending across most of the plan. A restrained and cohesive material palette heightens this sense of chic sophistication.

At the heart of the home is an expanse of open-plan living. A modern kitchen – renovated and fitted with new appliances in 2021 – features stone benchtops in soft grey, rich cream cabinetry and an on-trend mid-grey tiled splashback. Large north-facing windows and a sliding glass door create a seamless flow to the paved alfresco entertaining area and fill this central living zone with views of the lush garden. Low-set, integrated cabinets stretch along one wall of the family room, a stylish storage solution that offers ample space for a TV and a stereo, and to hide the clutter of daily life.

The principal suite offers a stylish parents’ retreat of generous proportion. An east-facing window, a wall of built-in robes and a luminous ensuite with double vanity, shower and WC fashion a haven, removed from the hustle and bustle of the shared living zone and the junior bedrooms. Two of the three junior bedrooms have built-in robes, and one features semi-ensuite access to the family bathroom. These rooms are accessed from a central hallway with two large storage cupboards. A well-appointed and spacious walk-through laundry is arranged at the end of the junior wing.

It is easy to imagine easy weekends that begin on the elevated alfresco entertaining area, sipping coffee and admiring the verdant outlook across gardens and a central lawn as you consider how the weekend will unfold. No matter your lifestyle or passions, the best the Hills have to offer is on the doorstep. Potter in the fully reticulated gardens, spend an hour or two walking or riding along the Heritage Trail or purchase supplies to cook up a feast for family and friends from the Village shops.

Graceful living awaits in this impeccably presented Mundaring home. Hidden from the world yet minutes from services, schools and amenities, it offers the best of both worlds.

Mundaring overview

Permanent settlement in Mundaring began in 1882-84 when Mr Peter Gugeri established a vineyard south of the Eastern Railway. The first railway siding at Mundaring was named after him and for some years the area was generally known as "Gugeris". A later settler, M H Jacoby, took over Gugeris' vineyards in 1893, and named the business the "Mundaring Vineyard Company". The name came from an Aboriginal camp situated nearby and the meaning given to Jacoby by the aborigines was "a high place on a high place". The correct pronunciation was "Mundahring" but common usage has gradually converted this to "Mundairing".
