ITS RIDDLED WITH TICKS (THE GOOD KIND) The Smart Move Out of Renting

Never Rent Again!!!

We all know renting hasn’t been getting any easier… but with current first-home buyer incentives, there'll never be a better time to buy either — if you can recognise a bargain when you see one.

Time to start ticking some boxes.

This classic 1965 Kununurra workers’ cottage has had the upgrades that matter — putting it well ahead of most homes from this era at this price point.

Let’s run through the checklist:

? Asbestos removed and replaced with low-maintenance Colorbond steel cladding
? Original timber windows upgraded to secure aluminium sliders with stainless steel screens
? Recent split-system A/C upgrades throughout the house
? Fully fenced with 2.1m garrison fencing and double-opening gates
? Massive 1,096sqm block with future development potential (would support up to 4 houses!)

And we’re not done…

? Double lock-up garage/workshop
? Double carport
? Garden shed (because you’ll need somewhere to put all your new homeowner gear)

Plus, a huge rear patio that more than doubles your usable living space — and just quietly… a bloody good spot for a housewarming party.

This is one of those rare entry-level homes that doesn’t feel like a compromise.

Ticks the boxes.
Makes sense on paper.
Feels right in person.

If you’re ready to stop renting and start building something of your own — this is your move.

Currently under periodic lease, the lease can be renewed for investors or extended until an occupier is ready to move in.

Kununurra overview

The townsite of Kununurra is located in the Kimberley region in the extreme northeast of the state, 3214 kilometres from Perth. When the Ord River Irrigation scheme was being planned in the 1950s a townsite was included in the proposed development. Amongst other submissions of Aboriginal names put forward for the new townsite being created in the vicinity of the Ord River Dam was "Cununurra", said to mean "black soil" and to be the Aboriginal name for the Ord River according to Mary Durack. A Mr. Lewis of the Public Works Department reported that a soil survey undertaken in 1954 had disclosed that 99 per cent of the land to be irrigated from the dam was composed of "cununurra clay". This name was not favoured by the Postmaster-General's Department because of its similarity to place names in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia. However, to compromise, that department suggested adopting the spelling, "Kununurra", this version being approved in March 1960. The townsite was gazetted in 1961.
