Country Cottage Delight

This north facing cottage is the perfect place to call home, with a massive backyard, side access to a large shed and even space to have a few chooks.

The north facing home captures the winter sunshine and the wide front verandah is the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee.

Built in the 1950's this cottage features:

• Elements of a time gone by with high ceilings, Jarrah floors & architraves, decorative cornices & ceiling designs and extra high skirting boards.
• Large lounge at the front of the home with the old fireplace now used for a gas heater. The timber mantelpiece stretches the full width of the room and there are clever storage shelves underneath. A timber bar occupies one corner, making this a great cosy space for entertaining friends or relaxing in front of the TV.
• The master bedroom occupies the other side of the entry at the front of the home and is spacious enough to accommodate a bed and extra furniture such as a wardrobe & dressing table.
• The second bedroom is located adjacent to the master.
• The bathroom has a shower over a bath, pedestal basin and there is room behind the door to have a cupboard.
• The combined dining and kitchen area is the hub of the home – with plenty of space for a dining table. There is an abundance of cupboards and benchspace, a wide fridge recess, upright gas stove. The original fireplace houses an old Metters Stove which adds to the character of the home.
• The rear of the home has a spacious utility area which has room for a good sized laundry area, a separate toilet and the third bedroom. This area has lots of louvre windows so you can adjust airflow and vinyl flooring.
• The home has ducted evaporative cooling.

Head outside and you will find:

• Flat roof patio with paving which runs the full width of the house, perfect for weekend BBQ's and outdoor dining.
• Side access to a 6mx6m powered shed with 2 roller doors which can be used for car parking or for the home handyman.
• Fully enclosed yard with mature trees, perfect for kids and pets, or those that love outdoor hobbies.

This is the perfect starter for the first home buyer or for those looking to downsize and renovate a cottage filled with character. Don't miss this opportunity!

Harvey overview

Harvey townsite is located in the southwest 140 kilometres south of Perth. It derives its name from the nearby Harvey River, which was named by Governor Stirling in 1829, soon after the river's discovery by explorers Collie and Preston in 1829. Although not positively known, the river is most likely named after Rear Admiral Sir John Harvey RN, Commander in Chief of the West Indies Station in 1818. Stirling was in command of the "Brazen" in those waters at the time, and Harvey recommended him for promotion. Stirling named a number of Western Australian features after his former navy colleagues.

Harvey was developed as a private town in the 1890s following the opening of a railway station there in 1893. In 1926 the Harvey Road Board sought the declaration of a townsite, but this did not occur until 1938.
