CHARACTER WEATHERBOARD ON FULL DEVELOPMENT BLOCK

There's something about 162 Peninsula Road, Maylands that just feels different. Full of warmth, character and personality, this is a home you can enjoy exactly as it is - while the 690sqm R60 zoning adds an exciting development angle for the future.

Step inside and the character kicks in immediately, with polished timber floorboards, high ceilings, decorative detailing and a fireplace giving the generous living room plenty of old-school charm. From here, the home flows through to a separate dining area and a bright, country-style kitchen with loads of cabinetry, a freestanding cooker and dishwasher.

The real surprise comes out the back. Bi-fold doors open the kitchen directly onto a huge undercover decked alfresco, creating an effortless indoor-outdoor connection overlooking the leafy backyard. Morning coffee, long lunches, weekend BBQs a treehouse for the kids, this is the kind of space that earns its keep year-round.

Both bedrooms are generously proportioned, with the main bedroom enjoying its own separate dressing room. There's also a bathroom with bath, separate laundry and toilet, split-system air conditioning and a garden shed tucked away out back.

Then there's the bigger picture. With R60 zoning, the property brings development potential into the conversation alongside all that existing character - giving buyers the opportunity to live in, lease out, renovate or explore what could be possible down the track.

Character to enjoy today, potential to get excited about tomorrow - this home gives you options.

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
