Character, Charm & Good Vibes

Welcome to this delightful circa 1950 character cottage, nestled on a whisper-quiet street just moments from the lush parklands of Gibbney Reserve on one side and the scenic Swan River on the other. With its classic weatherboard facade, high ceilings and rich timber floorboards, this home beautifully blends vintage charm with modern comforts.

Step inside and discover a warm, inviting layout. The spacious main bedroom features a stunning fireplace – a true centrepiece – while the second bedroom is generously sized. There's also a versatile sleepout that works perfectly as a third bedroom or extra living space, plus a separate study nook for those working from home.

The kitchen is sleek and stylish with stainless steel appliances and flows through to a dining area complete with a statement pendant light. A private lounge at the front of the home offers a peaceful spot to relax, and offers an elevated outlook of the front yard towards Gibbney Reserve.

Tucked behind a barn-style sliding door, the bathroom is a standout – think luxe gold fixtures, floor-to-ceiling tiling and a designer vanity that brings a touch of hotel-style glamour. The oversized laundry/mud room adds loads of practicality, with plenty of storage and space to spread out.

Outside, the low-maintenance courtyard is ideal for easy living, while the double carport provides secure off-street parking. With ducted air conditioning, a 5kW solar system and a location that’s second to none, this home is the perfect mix of charm, lifestyle and convenience.

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
