House, Granny Flat, workshop & more!!!

Nestled on a substantial corner block of 1064m², this charming and much-loved family oasis is available to own for the first time in 35 years and presents a unique opportunity for lovers of these period cottages... except this one is much much more than your average 1960's Kununurra workers cottage.

The generous land is conveniently divided into two separate fenced areas, ideal to secure pets or kids and the entire block features stunningly beautiful landscaped gardens that offer views to Mt Cyril & Kelly's knob. The main house offers the traditional three bedrooms and one bathroom, but some simple reconfiguration results in the addition of a study and a larger bathroom area than the original.

The home has been lovingly maintained throughout its lifetime, with important upgrades, including aluminium windows throughout, upgraded wiring & lighting, split system air-conditioning (it's WAY COOL), a hard-wired CCTV system and more.

A separate building houses the shared laundry and a studio-apartment / granny-flat with its own bathroom and kitchenette, It'll make a great guest room, art studio, teenager zone or you could even air-bnb it or rent it long term to help pay the mortgage! It's a real bonus effectively producing a 4-bed-2-bath home at a much lower price point than others!!

Even with all that done, there's still room for you to add your own touches to this charming cottage to make it your own. You can go all-out with the paint roller and battery drill while you camp in the granny flat if you like, or just move-in, take it easy and cruise into things as you enjoy living in your new home.

For those who relish outdoor living, the residence boasts covered entertaining spaces at the front and rear, perfect for hosting barbecues or simply enjoying the tranquillity and the views. A large workshop area at the rear is a super handy multi-purpose space, and the tall open garage at the front is the perfect shelter for your boat or caravan, adding to the many conveniences this home offers.

Whether you love gardening or hate it with a passion, you'll certainly appreciate the 35 years of hard work done outside and all the well-thought-out landscape inclusions, such as high-quality irrigation, weed-free everything, neatly curbed gravel driveways and concrete pathways, extra gates to zone off areas, and the abundance of beautifully manicured mature trees, palms, shrubs, and lawns. It's impossible to create this kind of lush beauty without dedicating years of hard work and big dollars in landscaping but here it's ready-made for you to enjoy.

An opportunity not to be missed!

Kununurra overview

The townsite of Kununurra is located in the Kimberley region in the extreme northeast of the state, 3214 kilometres from Perth. When the Ord River Irrigation scheme was being planned in the 1950s a townsite was included in the proposed development. Amongst other submissions of Aboriginal names put forward for the new townsite being created in the vicinity of the Ord River Dam was "Cununurra", said to mean "black soil" and to be the Aboriginal name for the Ord River according to Mary Durack. A Mr. Lewis of the Public Works Department reported that a soil survey undertaken in 1954 had disclosed that 99 per cent of the land to be irrigated from the dam was composed of "cununurra clay". This name was not favoured by the Postmaster-General's Department because of its similarity to place names in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia. However, to compromise, that department suggested adopting the spelling, "Kununurra", this version being approved in March 1960. The townsite was gazetted in 1961.
