Coolbinia overview

"Coolbinia" was for many years regarded as part of Mount Lawley. Development was mainly in the late 1940's and early 1950's and in 1953. The name chosen for a new school in the area in August 1953 was Coolbinia, an Aboriginal name meaning "Mistletoe" and it soon came to be adopted for the adjoining suburban area. Street names in Coolbinia commemorate many town and district names in Western Australia, e.g.., Carnarvon, Ardross, Marradon, Koorda etc.
