The original floorplan of this typical Wundowie cottage remains unchanged, with the lounge and main bedroom at the front of the home and a central kitchen leading to two junior bedrooms and a walk-through laundry. A family bathroom and separate WC adjoin the laundry. What has changed, thanks to considered updates, is the level of comfort and homeliness.
Carpet in the lounge and two bedrooms bring a calming softness to rooms intended for relaxation. The bright, renovated kitchen makes the most of its generous proportions and elevated position with glossy white cabinets topped with a dark charcoal bench and a landscape window open to gorgeous rural views.
High ceilings, a large window, and a built-in robe feature in the main bedroom; the first junior room is a generous size, carpeted and fitted with a ceiling fan, and the second junior – an update on the classic cottage sleepout – has original jarrah floors.
An east-facing deck looks across the fully fenced backyard; this private entertaining area is sheltered by a high gable roof and has ample room for seating, a table, and a barbecue. It offers an ideal space for relaxing, getting together with family and friends, and a sheltered area for kids to play. A rear entry allows for drive-in access to the backyard.

The townsite of Wundowie is located in the Darling Range 72 kilometres east northeast of Perth and 31 kilometres west southwest of Northam. It is located adjacent to the original railway track from Perth to Northam, and in 1907 the Railways Department applied for a name for a newly constructed siding at the 53 Mile between Werribee and Karrijine. The name Wundowing was suggested by the Lands Department, and this was shortened to Wundowi by the Surveyor General.
