Love Down South

Suave is the simplest way to describe 106A Ashton Street, Margaret River, a superb architectural home that embraces light, function, style and its natural environment.

Centred around the rear living area, the home captures its surroundings beautifully. It's a space designed to entertain, yet feels warm and inviting, drawing everything together. The large, functional kitchen is the heart of the home, embodying family, love and light, with soaring ceilings and a modern, practical design. From here, everything connects seamlessly: the garden, alfresco, loft study or fourth bedroom, entry hall and the bedrooms.

Outside, enjoy the rewards of a thoughtfully established garden, complete with productive fruit trees, vegetable beds and native flora that attract local fauna. All of this set against a peaceful outlook over the Margaret River valley, within a beautiful and friendly neighbourhood.

Entry is via an electric gate, leading to an impressive 8m x 8m high-clearance double garage, with additional parking both beside and in front. After a day at the coast, make use of the outdoor shower, perfect for washing away the salt and sand of the Margaret River coast.

There's also the opportunity to create something special, with approved plans to convert the original (now unused) rainwater tank into a studio. Adjacent, a private sauna enjoys tranquil tree-lined views.

A home that feels as good as it looks, thoughtful, connected and effortlessly livable.

Margaret River overview

The townsite of Margaret River is located in the south west agricultural area, 277 kilometres south southwest of Perth and 48 kilometres south southwest of Busselton. It is located on the Margaret River from which it derives its name. The precise origin of the naming of the river is not known, but it was possibly named by John Bussell in honour of Margaret Wyche, a friend in England who was expected to follow the Bussell's to Australia. The name is first shown on a map of the region published in 1839.

In 1910 the Margaret River Progress Association wrote to the Minister for Lands requesting a townsite be declared at "the Upper Margaret Bridge". The reason given was that "the district is likely to be dotted with public buildings several miles apart in the near future if a townsite is not made available shortly". The District Surveyor who inspected the area preferred an area near the lower bridge on Caves Road, but this land was not available. Lots were surveyed in 1912, and the Townsite of Margaret River gazetted in 1913. In 1918 the name of the townsite was changed to "Margaret", but it was changed back to Margaret River in 1927, due to local usage of the name always being Margaret River.
