THE RESIDENCE
The architect designed house is efficient and complete, ready for immediate enjoyment. The beauty in the design is the luxury of space, light and the use of natural materials.
The residence's iconic 1980s Margaret River style immaculately combines rammed earth, zincalume roof and local timbers. Nature is captured in each living space through the expansive windows and sliding doors. Light-filled spaces with high-raked ceilings, brightly rendered walls, and beautiful timber features flow throughout, from the kitchen to the quaint living areas. An office/desk space with adjacent built-in shelving is a subtle feature of the central space. The bespoke fireplace in the sunken lounge room provides warmth and atmosphere in the cooler months. For the warmer months, the windows and sliding doors allow ample cross ventilation to keep the place cool. Calmness and privacy extend into the bedroom, which features garden views and an ensuite bathroom.
ALFRESCO AREAS
The sliding glass door from the lounge room and jarrah entry door expand the living space to a delightful entertaining area. The north-facing deck at the front of the house leads to a lawned terrace contained by a granite retaining wall that defines the transition from the domestic to the natural world.
On the cooler south side of the house, the sliding glass door leads to a more private outdoor area to enjoy the tranquillity, or activity, afforded by the expanse of the low maintenance yard with access to the other great features of the property.
THE STUDIO
In the far corner of the property, the 14 sqm timber-framed structure features an earthscape feature wall and fine timber detailing Inside. Complete with a well finished bathroom and private courtyard, the area is an ideal studio space ; a perfect retreat for visiting family and friends, 20m behind the residence.

Track propertyThe townsite of Margaret River is located in the south west agricultural area, 277 kilometres south southwest of Perth and 48 kilometres south southwest of Busselton. It is located on the Margaret River from which it derives its name. The precise origin of the naming of the river is not known, but it was possibly named by John Bussell in honour of Margaret Wyche, a friend in England who was expected to follow the Bussell's to Australia. The name is first shown on a map of the region published in 1839.
In 1910 the Margaret River Progress Association wrote to the Minister for Lands requesting a townsite be declared at "the Upper Margaret Bridge". The reason given was that "the district is likely to be dotted with public buildings several miles apart in the near future if a townsite is not made available shortly". The District Surveyor who inspected the area preferred an area near the lower bridge on Caves Road, but this land was not available. Lots were surveyed in 1912, and the Townsite of Margaret River gazetted in 1913. In 1918 the name of the townsite was changed to "Margaret", but it was changed back to Margaret River in 1927, due to local usage of the name always being Margaret River.
