1. Broome

The beach resort town of Broome is best known for the white sands of 22km long Cable Beach. Located in WA's Kimberley region, house prices in Broome plummeted 6.7 per cent when compared to five years ago, which is good news if you are planning to buy there.

House sales in Broome have gone up 3.8 per cent in the 12 months to September 2019, suggesting activity is healthy in the area and buyer demand may be on the rise. So, if living in Broome is on your radar, don't leave it too long as you may find yourself competing for your dream Cable Beach home.

2. Busselton

Busselton is just over a two hour drive south of Perth, which is the perfect solution if you want to stay close to your family and friends whilst still living regional. Busselton is a popular holiday destination, with plenty of things to do and features everything you need in the town's main centre.

When compared to five years ago, house prices have gone down 4.2 per cent in Busselton, taking its median price to $380,000. Widely known for the 1.8km long Busselton Jetty and the bustling waterfront precinct which has developed around it, Busselton has plenty of lifestyle perks if you decide to make it your next home.

3. Exmouth

4. Bunbury

Bunbury is another close option from Perth, being only a two hour drive away. House prices in Bunbury are now 1.8 per cent more affordable than they were five years ago, with the median house price for the year coming in at $465,000.

Bunbury has been given the nickname of the second capital city of WA due to its size, population and well-established restaurants, bars and shops. During the 12 months to September 2019, 35 houses sold in Bunbury.

5. Margaret River

Rounding out the top five regional suburbs now more affordable to buy in than five years ago is Margaret River. This town reaps serenity with its landscape consisting of beautiful rocky coastline and green forest bound by cliffs.

Margaret River is famous for its surfing and wineries with its locally produced wine famous around the world. Mainly a holiday town, there is also residential appeal of living there too, with 74 houses sold during the 12 months to September 2019.

House prices have declined a modest 0.9 per cent when compared to five years ago with its median house price coming in at $430,000.
