Matt is a Geraldton local, born and bred. A career in the building industry spanning twenty years began with local design & drafting firm Teakle & Lalor, before a move to Admiration Homes. Here Matt trained in every facet of homebuilding and honed an ability for sales, and helping people choose the right home for their families. During a hiatus from building, Matt worked in the Victorian alpine region and discovered a passion for the snow sports industry, which created the opportunity to travel to the US to live and work for a period in 2006. Matt quickly progressed in this industry but decided to return to Geraldton to establish his career in building and joined WA Country Builders and, later, Plunkett Homes as a sales consultant.
Matt rapidly grew a strong client base including a great deal of repeat business and was recognised as the top selling consultant in the Midwest year after year, and twice as the top selling consultant state-wide. Matt’s portfolio included everything from first homebuyers, to investors, multi-level and grouped dwellings, rural homes, and feasibility studies. Matt was also utilised in training new consultants, coaching sales teams, and consulted on preparation of training literature. Despite an industry downturn Matt facilitated an increase in market share at both companies and progressed to becoming the Regional Manager for Plunkett Homes Midwest. Matt and his wife Taryn then relocated to the South West as the Sales Manager, and within 12 months was promoted to Regional Manager South West. This experience managing a large team of staff, a massive display home programme, and a multi-million-dollar business was invaluable, and Matt gained a great insight into leading a business, and importantly, people.
After welcoming their baby daughter, Matt and Taryn decided to return home to Geraldton once again and joined the Activewest team to expand the Commercial Sales & Leasing capacity and brings with him a wealth of professional property experience. Matt’s focus is on helping buyers, sellers, owners, and tenants to realise their property goals through strong attention to detail, innovative marketing strategies, and obsessive attention to client satisfaction. It is Matt’s belief that an excellent customer experience is paramount, and that honest communication is integral to that.
Matt has strong community ties through family, business, and local sport, and is passionate about helping the Midwest thrive & modernise, while retaining a sense of tradition.
