Maylands’ Best-Kept Secret!

Tranquilly hidden between a gated front pathway and a private laneway at the rear, this light, bright and surprisingly-comfortable 3 bedroom 2 bathroom residence is the perfect “lock-up-and-leave” property for those seeking some extra peace and quiet – and an ultra-convenient location, just footsteps away from the vibrant bar, café and restaurant strip along Whatley Crescent.

Follow the side gate and path from Ferguson Street, all the way down to your front door and a small entry courtyard that precedes it. Welcoming you in is a commodious open-plan living, dining and kitchen area with low-maintenance timber-look flooring, split-system air-conditioning, feature down lighting, a gas bayonet for heating, a breakfast bar for quick bites, double sinks, ample storage options, a gas cooktop, Westinghouse oven and a stainless-steel Bosch range hood.

All three bedrooms are carpeted for complete comfort, inclusive of a huge front master suite that leaves space for a study desk and boasts a walk-in wardrobe, as well as an intimate ensuite bathroom with a rain shower, toilet and vanity. The separate minor sleeping quarters are made up of two spare bedrooms with built-in robes, a light-filled main bathroom with a separate bath and shower, a linen press, separate second toilet and a cleverly-concealed double-door European-style hallway laundry with built-in storage of its own. The latter is large in size and makes the most of both the floor and wall space on offer.

Your own private hidden cottage also plays host to a lovely back patio and deck for secluded outdoor entertaining, adjacent to a secure remote-controlled lock-up double carport that runs off the lane and enjoys a second “shopper’s” entry door into the home. There is also a side gate off the laneway, whilst unobstructed access around the entire property is simply an added bonus. A lock-up external storeroom with a light helps complete this very impressive package.

Stroll to both the Meltham and Maylands Train Stations from here, with the new Bayswater Train Station under construction and set to allow you direct access to Perth Airport. Also nearby are bus stops, lush local parklands, the Maylands Peninsula Public Golf Course, the Maylands Tennis Club, Maylands Peninsula Primary School, medical facilities, Maylands Park Shopping Centre, sport and recreation at The RISE, more entertainment options on Guildford Road and Beaufort Street and even the Perth CBD. What a wonderful lifestyle you will live!

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
