"Torii" - Blissful Boya Retreat

Reminiscent of a Margaret River hideaway, this gorgeous architecturally Twin Villa home, known as "Torii", is as beautiful as it is unique. Nestled on a delightfully landscaped 4384sqm, with picturesque vistas and a babbling winter creek, it promises the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of suburbia despite being only 20 minutes from the Perth CBD. Live in and enjoy the idyllic Hills lifestyle on offer here or capitalise on the demand for short-term boutique accommodation in this gorgeous Hills location…the options here are endless.

Set in an elevated position to take advantage of pretty tree top outlooks, this delightful residence is set well back from the street to ensure peace and privacy. Designed to allow flexible living options and ideally suited for extended family, those with teenagers or as boutique short stay accommodation, it has broad ranging appeal.

Make your way down the meandering driveway, across the pretty winter creek to the homestead. Feature granite walls border the tiered lawns and vegetable gardens at the rear of the property and there is plenty of space to host the largest of family gatherings, for kids to play or perhaps to host a spring wedding. A large shed or studio has been built in keeping with the theme of the house and has provision for plumbing should it be required.

The unique architectural home has been cleverly designed to provide two private and contemporary accommodation wings separated by a covered al fresco dining area. The main villa comprises a striking modern kitchen and open plan family and dining room. This space opens out to a private entertaining balcony with the most serene outlook over the gardens. The master bedroom has an equally stunning ensuite which overlooks a private courtyard with heated spa. Soaring timber-lined raked ceilings enhance the sense of space in this wing whilst large picture windows embrace the pretty views on offer.

The second villa is completed in the same modern yet timeless theme, and has two bedrooms, a shared bathroom with separate toilet and it's own private balcony. It enjoys the use of a private outdoor entertaining area with a quaint outdoor Japanese bathtub. The villas are connected by an outdoor covered dining area creating a seamless connection whilst retaining privacy for both wings should it be desired.

The careful planning which has gone into the design of this gorgeous residence is also evident in the magnificent landscaped gardens which surround the home. Centred around the picturesque "Convict Creek" which runs through the property, the gardens have a Japanese theme which has been integrated perfectly with retained native trees and easy-care mass plantings. Sitting on the one of the balconies which embrace this stunning outlook, one could easily be forgiven for thinking that they were in a luxurious Margaret River getaway...now this is living!

Previously operated as a successful boutique short-stay guess accommodation - (visit https://www.toriiluxuryretreat.com) - this unique residence offers multiple lifestyle options. Spoil yourself and make this piece of paradise your forever home, or explore the possibility of a boutique day spa or wedding venue (STCA) the options are truly endless.

Boya overview

To supply the stone required to build the groynes at Fremantle Harbour, a Government quarry was established in the hills a little south-west of Darlington. A spur line was run into the quarry from the existing railway and, by July 1901, dozens of iron and hessian huts housing approximately 150 workmen were clustered near the site. In August of 1901, construction began on a railway siding for the use of this settlement and the first name proposed was "Yan-Yeen". This was rejected because of a duplication in Victoria and the Aboriginal word "Boya", appropriately meaning rock/stone, was chosen instead. It was later found that the correct Aboriginal name for the area was "Nyeedoup" but Boya remains appropriate as the Aboriginal sub-tribe who once inhabited the hills were known as "Boya-Ngoora".
