A home steeped in history and personality, Golowin House was originally built for Mr W. Golowin and his family; a Russian/Jewish family who immigrated to Australia. Built by his building company, the Golowin Bros, they were known as a quality builder and interestingly, Iwanoff’s preferred builder. Big on entertaining, the Golowin’s were known for hosting theatrical and musical events at the house, and the third bedroom was known for playing cards and housed the wine cellar.

Designed with an emphasis on open planning, Iwanoff’s idea was to connect the indoors with outside, by using large areas of glass and maximizing the use of natural light and cross flow ventilation. Full use of natural materials were important in the design, and these included Wandoo and Blackbutt timber, large-scale granite, burnished copper and concrete.

The elevation of Golowin House with its single long run roofline provides a contemporary yet understated frontage to South View Road. The house is connected to the street via a bridge which overlooks a feature pond. An individually designed letterbox sits in the forefront; a signature design trait of Iwanoff. Turning the corner onto Woodroyd Street, one witnesses a more dramatic elevation.

Despite its significant history, Golowin House by design and location, sets the stage for living a modern lifestyle reflective of today’s archetype. The home is both beautiful and practical, marrying fine design and modern living under one roof and on a large 883 sqm corner block.

Restored by it’s current owners, this spilt level mid-century modern home is today’s perfect entertainer and features plenty of space for all your friends and family, including two spacious living areas, a large balcony with local views, a stunning pool with alfresco area, pool house and a rear garden.

The upper level provides wonderful spaces for work, rest and play. An open plan living and dining area is anchored by the large granite and copper fireplace, as well as beautiful built in cabinetry, including the original built in record player cavity. An expansive undercover balcony is accessed here, which provides wonderful local views. An office is located off the living area and includes full height built-in cabinetry.

The kitchen looks out to the North and has visibility and connection to the upstairs dining area and living space. With Italian tiling, bespoke cabinetry, a large Smeg gas cooktop and oven, a large fridge recess and an abundance of storage space, any avid chef will be satisfied.

Downstairs you’ll find the second living space, which benefits from a framed view to the outside entertainment area, an abundance of natural light, a burnished copper and granite fireplace and built-in cabinetry. This is a perfect space to be used as a games room or as an indoor adjunct to the outside entertaining area. Parties would seamlessly flow from inside to out here.

All bedrooms throughout the house are generously sized and feature built-in wardrobes and lots of natural light. The master bedroom features a beautifully renovated en-suite bathroom with Italian tiling and quality fittings. The third bedroom downstairs, otherwise used historically as the “card room”, features further built-in storage, which was the wine cellar in its earlier life. The main and third bathrooms all feature Italian tiling, with the main bathroom also including a bathtub.

Stepping outside you’ll be transported to a world reminiscent of a classic Palm Springs entertainer. With the pool house overlooking the pool area complete with a servery; all that’s left to do is invite your friends, select your music and mix a cocktail.

Proudly positioned within a prime Mount Lawley pocket, you’ll be set to enjoy a convenient and vibrant lifestyle. You’ll be within close proximity to gorgeous parks, Mount Lawley Bowling Club and the wonderful cafes and restaurants offered throughout Mount Lawley, Highgate and Inglewood. Walking distance to Mount Lawley Senior High School and Edith Cowan University, you are also within close proximity to Perth College.

A home that has been tightly held, loved and enjoyed for it’s lifetime to date, the sale of Golowin House is both a rare and an exciting opportunity.

We anticipate strong interest and encourage buyers to act promptly.
