Spectacular, Award Winning house set on 5.5 acres !
Prepare to be amazed, as everything about this house and property is stunning. This spectacular home located in Margaret River's most exclusive location "Wallcliffe Farms" is a rare gem, rarely attainable.

This home is one of the first modern minimal architectural homes built in Australia and one of the best examples of this design worldwide. The spectacular house and Chalet boasts the award-winning design and is Heritage Listed with the Australian Institute of Architects under Nationally Significant 20th Century Architecture.
It is easy to see why the house has been seen by hundreds of architects, students and builders. People have flown in from the eastern states just to see the colour of the rammed earth walls and study the exceptional details and specifications.

This single-storey three-bedroom residence and guest chalet is built on the banks of the stunning Margaret River and located on a very private block of land not overlooked by other properties. The design of the house promotes openness and affords incredible views of the surrounding landscape, the river, ocean and native bushland. A full glazed glass wall in the living area exposes the large open space to winter sun, drawing the eye to the all-round views. The living area is surrounded by glazed walls giving long external views to the West, North and East.

The house is divided into two zones: a steel and glass living wing with a skillion roof designed to make the most of the breath taking views with open plan living and huge glass windows. The second zone is a private wing, made with earth walls under a pitched roof, and boasts the luscious bedroom suites linked by a courtyard.

The master bedroom has 20' ceilings, and a moving wall of Japanese sen veneer to separate the large modern bathroom with massive bath. Japanese sen is a main detail throughout the house and chalet.

Margaret River overview

The townsite of Margaret River is located in the south west agricultural area, 277 kilometres south southwest of Perth and 48 kilometres south southwest of Busselton. It is located on the Margaret River from which it derives its name. The precise origin of the naming of the river is not known, but it was possibly named by John Bussell in honour of Margaret Wyche, a friend in England who was expected to follow the Bussell's to Australia. The name is first shown on a map of the region published in 1839.

In 1910 the Margaret River Progress Association wrote to the Minister for Lands requesting a townsite be declared at "the Upper Margaret Bridge". The reason given was that "the district is likely to be dotted with public buildings several miles apart in the near future if a townsite is not made available shortly". The District Surveyor who inspected the area preferred an area near the lower bridge on Caves Road, but this land was not available. Lots were surveyed in 1912, and the Townsite of Margaret River gazetted in 1913. In 1918 the name of the townsite was changed to "Margaret", but it was changed back to Margaret River in 1927, due to local usage of the name always being Margaret River.
