Sweeping Ocean Views

This is a large home with 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 storeys and unobstructed ocean views across Flinders Bay to St Alouarn Island to the East and Augusta Beaches running east to Black Point, way off in the distance.

The home is of brick construction with a tile roof and a suspended concrete upper balcony. The ground floor contains a formal entry, combined bathroom and laundry, three bedrooms, a small kitchen, a big living area with pretty big storage under the stairs that would have suited Harry Potter.

The upper level contains the kitchen, a large dining room, two bedrooms, a bathroom, a powder room, the main living area with those stunning views and two balconies, one on the eastern side of the home overlooking the sea and the other enclosed on the western side of the home overlooking the back garden. The two bedrooms on this level each open onto one of the balconies.

As indicated by the low price for such a prime location, the house is in need of restoration and restyling to bring it up to modern expectations, however the potential to be a stunning residence is undeniable!

Augusta overview

The most south westerly town in the state, Augusta was named by Gov. Sir James Stirling in May 1830. Until 2003 it was thought the name honoured Princess Augusta Sophia, second daughter of King George III and Queen Charlotte. In 2003 the book "James Stirling - Admiral and Founding Governor of Western Australia" a letter by James Turner is referred to which states "a town is purposed to be built named Augusta, County of Sussex, in compliment to the Duke". Princess Augusta Sophia died unmarried, and the "Duke" is most likely the Duke of Sussex, Augustus Frederick (Hanover), the 6th son of George III. He married Lady Augusta Murray in 1793, but the marriage was deemed a violation of the Royal Marriage Act, and was declared null and void in 1794. Lady Augusta Murray is most likely the person after whom Augusta is named.
