A Timeless Entertainer

A spectacular integration of old and new has delivered this fully-renovated and impressively-extended 3 bedroom 2 bathroom character home that has all of the modern conveniences you could ever want or need – and is still packed full of pleasant surprises.

Beyond a quintessential white picket fence and gate, the front yard is nice and secure – with a circa-1910 heritage verandah and entry deck (plus artificial turf) on one side and paved driveway parking space for up to three vehicles on the other. Internally, the soaring high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, solid Western Australia wooden Jarrah floorboards, decorative ceiling roses, feature cornices and tall feature skirting boards remain – recently updated and added, if not restored within the original parts of the house.

The master-bedroom suite at the front of the residence is huge in size and has its own separate study, walk-in dressing room or nursery, along with built-in wardrobes, a ceiling fan and a quality fully-tiled ensuite bathroom – walk-in rain shower, second showerhead, vanity, toilet and all. A spacious second bedroom towards the front has its own study nook/desk, as well as built-in double robes. The third bedroom also has double built-in robes and a ceiling fan for good measure.

A functional laundry is sleek and stylish, with quality fittings and fixtures throughout complemented by ample custom storage and cupboard space, a powder room and external/side access for drying. The fully-tiled main family bathroom has been updated to include a Velux skylight for natural illumination, a striking claw-foot bathtub that keeps classic at arm’s length, a walk-in rain shower (again, with a handy second showerhead), a Caesar Stone vanity, toilet, chandelier and a heated towel rail.

Soaring cathedral-style ceilings in the open-plan living, dining and kitchen area are a whopping five-metres tall at their highest point, creating an overwhelming sense of spaciousness and comfort within the main hub. A double sash window, gas log fireplace and dimmable down and feature lights grace this airy space, along with everything a home chef desires – inclusive of sparkling 40mm-thich Caesar Stone bench tops with double-waterfall edges, double sinks, wine racking, filtered water, a Samsung plumbed fridge/freezer combination, a gas cooktop, Westinghouse double ovens, a Miele range hood and a stainless-steel Bosch dishwasher.

Two sets of Fremantle-made Jarrah bi-fold doors – with retractable fly-screens – seamlessly extend entertaining out to a fantastic full-width alfresco deck out back, complete with a “resort” ceiling fan, Ziptrak blinds for protection from the elements, a Rinnai electric heater for those chilly winter months and a full outdoor kitchen, complete with 40mm-thick Caesar Stone bench tops, a Ziegler & Brown Turbo Elite mains-gas barbecue and burner, a Serene drinks fridge and exceptional tapware. Down below, a sunken pit can be whatever you want it to be, from a “man cave” to an extension of the entertaining space and more. More Jarrah decking, another fan above head-height, a wood fireplace heater and adjustable bi-fold shutters can all be found here and only add to the appeal of this magical garden oasis.

In between the rear laneway and the alfresco decks, a “tradesperson’s dream” of a remote-controlled lock-up five-car garage will capture your imagination and even enjoys roller-door access to the backyard-lawn area. An industrial “Q” fan, a built-in work bench, insulation (including the roller doors) and a corner kitchenette with sinks all combine to make up this unique part of the property – one that is sure to be the envy of your neighbours. Extras include USB points in the kitchen and study nook, fully insulated walls and ceilings (plus floors in the new part of the house) and lemon and lime trees out front, plus a shade sail next to the alfresco.

Leave the cars lock up and walk down to the Maylands Yacht Club and lush riverside parklands, schools, shopping, community and recreational facilities, the Mount Lawley Train Station and other public-transport options in the opposite direction. Other nearby amenities include the Maylands Peninsula Public Golf Course, the St John of God Mount Lawley Hospital and even Ascot Racecourse.

Stroll to the buzzing Whatley Crescent café, restaurant, bar and entertainment strip with relative ease, whilst our world-class Optus Stadium at Burswood is also effortlessly accessible by foot. Don’t forget about the very close proximity to the city, Northbridge, Crown Towers and casino and even Perth Airport. This exemplary location and lifestyle opportunity is one that you simply cannot miss out on. And best of all, the hard work has already been done for you!

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
