Explore a new direction

Trust your instincts. Follow your nose. Seek and ye shall find.
Remember: happiness is a pursuit.

Take the long view - literally. Here’s an apartment with more fab features than you could wish for, including an outlook from the balcony that will see you spending all your spare time out there. Well, not all of it. There’s a pool here, you know. And a spa, for those days (or nights) when you’re feeling extra indulgent. Plus all these facilities have been recently refreshed, which is exactly how you’ll feel after a relaxing soak or a few leisurely laps. Once you’re in the zone you may as well continue on your path to serenity with a moment spent on the couch with a trashy magazine (we won’t judge), or a glass or two of vino while you artfully arrange some cheese on a platter and call it dinner. Perfect.

Location is always a focus. You’ll be pleased to find what you’re looking for here, and all in short distance. Forget the car and hit the pavement instead. The Eighth Avenue café strip with its collection of restaurants and bars has you sorted for caffeine from breakfast to dinner and beyond. Affogato, anyone? From there, navigate in any direction you please and you’ll discover cultural events, quirky shops that beg exploration, and off-the-chart culinary delights.

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
