Get the tingles

Tingles in your jingles? That's Minglewood!

A suburb you’ve never heard of? Not quite, but if you know, you know. And now you know - ‘Minglewood’ is that sweet spot right on the border of Maylands and Inglewood; we happen to know it’s pretty much the best of all worlds, including being in the catchment of Mount Lawley Senior High, should you still have a youngen’ at home. Speaking of commitments, you’ve just bought your weekends back because this charmer is super low maintenance when it comes to yard work meaning no lawn guilting you into dragging out the lawnmower every second Sunday (in fact, pop that thing on the local Buy Nothing group now!). However, you don’t lose outdoor living space with the rather snazzy, fully secure front yard with automatic gates and - hold your heart - a double carport (in this area! Yes, we know!)

Just because the whole shebang’s been modernised and renovated to Pinterest gold standard, doesn’t mean it has lost an iota of character. Originally built in 1940, you’ll still catch glimpses of history around every corner - from the delectable leadlight windows to the fabulous high ceilings with cornices and ceiling roses and beloved Jarrah boards. The red brick. *Sigh* The cozy front room through the French doors with the fireplace. *Swoon* And remember when main bedrooms were built for space? So does this place. You’re going to get the warm and fuzzies every single time you come home, but only if you act on your gut feeling. And fast!

Can we sing the song about location again? It’s a feeling. A vibe. Inglewood Night Markets in the season, a quick skip to The Coffee Corner, and literally a 5-minute chat/walk to Beaufort Street. No wonder this place gives you all the feels!

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
