What we love…
… is the stunning location in between both the beach and bush, sitting directly opposite the lush Laurie Strutt Reserve and Mount Flora Regional Museum on what is arguably this fantastic coastal suburb’s finest – and quietest – street
… is the flexible floor plan associated with this solid 2 bedroom 2 bathroom brick-and-tile residence that allows you to have the second bedroom and ensuite completely shut off from the rest of the house – and privately accessible via the rear
… is the potential to renovate the original home even further or to either live in it or rent it out while you plan your next move – including one day building your dream family property in its place
… is the leafy aspect and splendid bushland views that are already on offer to you today and are set to be enhanced in the near future, no matter what you decide
… is a very close proximity to the sprawling Star Swamp Reserve walking trails, the glorious surf and sand, coastal cafes and restaurants along both West Coast Drive and the vibrant Flora Terrace strip, Carine Senior High School, Sacred Heart College, St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School, North Beach Primary School, Our Lady of Grace Primary School, North Beach Shopping Centre, sporting fields, Hillarys Boat Harbour, public transport, the freeway, golf courses and so much more – what a wonderful location to live in

What to know
A private, sunken and leafy front yard – with an outdoor pergola-entertaining area – doubles as the entry point into this property, beyond its two-car carport and lock-up storeroom. The welcoming front dining room is connected to the back lounge via a breezeway with ample built-in storage options, as well as a custom integrated study nook. There is also a servery window into a charming kitchen where character wooden cabinetry, double sinks and a water-filter tap meet a Westinghouse gas-upright cooker and a revamped scullery with a separate toilet and external access to a fabulous rear balcony that can also be reached from the lounge and allows for stunning bush views in the process.

The main bedroom is spacious, carpeted for comfort and has a ceiling fan and “his and hers” double built-in wardrobes, just inches away from a practical fully-tiled bathroom with a shower. Outside, a functional tiled laundry with a French door sits around the corner from a separate ground-level wing where a large carpeted “second” bedroom has its own fully-tiled ensuite-come-second bathroom with a generous shower, toilet and vanity. Extras include a shady backyard with lawns and a massive powered workshop shed for the budding tradesman of the house, a huge natural outdoor under-house wine cellar, a delightful entry verandah, ducted reverse-cycle air-conditioning, timber floorboards, high ceilings, feature cornices, skirting boards, a gas hot-water system, reticulation and an assortment of exotic fruit trees – mangoes, figs, oranges and limes, just to name a few.

North Beach overview

The name North Beach began as a descriptive name, derived from the suburb being at the time the most northerly of Perth's beaches. It was assigned in 1888 when surveyor Charles Crossland referred to the pastoral leases of Samuel Richard Hamersley as his "north beach coastal run". The suburb was originally set aside as a timber reserve in the 1860s and then as a quarantine area for camels entering in the 1890s. A number of orchards operated in the area with the only evidence that remains today an old olive tree on Hope Street.

Life in North Beach

Residential styles in North Beach include a mix of holiday dwellings from before and after World War II, some former workers' houses, and modern dwellings. As a residential suburb, North Beach has small shopping areas on the coast and at Flora Terrace and Castle Street which offer basic commercial services. The suburb features a tennis club and has two primary schools - North Beach Primary School and Our Lady of Grace School.
