Leave the city Behind

Many of us dream of an escape to the country - maybe a treechange, or a home on a large bush block with room for a workshop and gardens, or the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic lifestyle surrounded by the beauty of nature. However we don't want to be too far from the conveniences of city living.

Well, this home offers these opportunities, and a few more.

It's set on a huge 2825sqm block - that's close to impossible to find in the metro area - with plenty of trees and space to make your own. It already includes a big shed and there's a pool for summer entertainment.

The amazing heritage railway trail is practically on the doorstep where you can walk the dog, enjoy an early morning stroll or hike for hours. You can take the kids to Sculpture Park, which has some wonderful play facilities and interesting artwork. It's minutes to the Mundaring town site and just under 20 minutes to all the shops and other amenity in Midland. And you can head out and explore a range of other nearby attractions such as Mundaring Weir and acres of national park.

There are also schools close by and a sporting club that even has a golf course.

The property comes with two residences, the main home and a studio apartment/granny flat. This allows elderly relatives to be nearby but still have some independence, provides space for an adult child who hasn't quite flown the coop or you could consider renting it out for some extra income. Maybe you could use it to run a small business from home. It's all food for thought.

The homes are separated by a double carport.

The apartment includes a living/dining area with kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom with laundry facilities.

The main home includes a living/dining area with wood-fired heater and a kitchen/meals area. There are three bedrooms, all with built-in robes, and a bathroom with bath, shower and vanity unit. There is also an adjacent vanity unit and toilet, which is handy when one family member is using the bathroom.

Outside there is a paved patio, separate pool area with gazebo, drying courtyard and plenty of space to enjoy.

Yes, the home is older and the gardens need some TLC, but it's an outstanding opportunity to enjoy the pleasures of country living, with all the conveniences close by.

Mundaring overview

Permanent settlement in Mundaring began in 1882-84 when Mr Peter Gugeri established a vineyard south of the Eastern Railway. The first railway siding at Mundaring was named after him and for some years the area was generally known as "Gugeris". A later settler, M H Jacoby, took over Gugeris' vineyards in 1893, and named the business the "Mundaring Vineyard Company". The name came from an Aboriginal camp situated nearby and the meaning given to Jacoby by the aborigines was "a high place on a high place". The correct pronunciation was "Mundahring" but common usage has gradually converted this to "Mundairing".
