Whether you’re raising a brood of forest-loving babies or looking for a sense of escape without sacrificing the convenience of nearby services and facilities, this subtly renovated home offers the answer with its magical setting less than 5-minutes from Mundaring Village. The elevated property is swathed in a cloak spun from the magic and beauty of the Australian bush. Displaying a quiet modernity so as not to clash with its natural setting, the home offers a practical family layout with multiple living spaces indoors and out, an above-ground pool that appears to float in the tree canopy and a powered Colorbond garage/workshop.

The front door opens to a formal entry, currently a home office, before leading into a lateral expanse of open-plan living with an electric oven, 4-burner gas hob and a slow-combustion fireplace. Painted brick, timber benchtops and a farmhouse sink come together to fashion an atmosphere of style and easy welcome. Soft grey walls and crisp white trim offer a neutral background, allowing the home’s exquisite setting to shine.

A wide hallway at one end of the central living zone leads to a sunken lounge/media room and the main bedroom. At the end of the hall, a pair of glass doors open onto a patio paved with recycled brick leading to the decked pool. The main bedroom boasts a walk-through robe leading to a fully tiled ensuite with a shower, vanity and WC. Three bedrooms are arranged in a separate junior wing, along with a family bathroom and a powder room – a practical and sanity-saving feature when everyone is trying to get ready for their day at the same time. Ducted evaporative cooling provides summer climate control, and an open fireplace in the lounge/media room conjures visions of cosy nights watching movies or playing games.

A walk-through laundry with good storage and a functional work surface opens to a large outdoor entertaining area paved with recycled brick and with a sheltered area at one end for alfresco dining. Recycled brick paving extends around the home to provide space for outdoor living and entertaining, and flows seamlessly out to a decked, sparkling above ground pool.

The 1/2-acre block is fully fenced with a paved driveway leading to the powered Colorbond shed/garage and is embraced by a natural bush setting.

Active kids and their parents will love that Mundaring Arena and walking trails are steps from the front gate and that the bustling village of Mundaring, a choice of schools, and access to arterial roads are all a very short drive away.

Mundaring overview

Permanent settlement in Mundaring began in 1882-84 when Mr Peter Gugeri established a vineyard south of the Eastern Railway. The first railway siding at Mundaring was named after him and for some years the area was generally known as "Gugeris". A later settler, M H Jacoby, took over Gugeris' vineyards in 1893, and named the business the "Mundaring Vineyard Company". The name came from an Aboriginal camp situated nearby and the meaning given to Jacoby by the aborigines was "a high place on a high place". The correct pronunciation was "Mundahring" but common usage has gradually converted this to "Mundairing".
