A BEAUTIFUL HOME RICH IN HISTORY

Built in 1906 this incredible home has a significant place in our local history. Remarkably this is only being sold for the third time in 119 years.

The home, whilst steeped in history has been elegantly updated in significant ways over the past few years. The list includes the new roof, updated bathrooms, laundry and kitchen. In addition to that the house has been totally rewired, solar panels added and of course that 200sqm workshop built. So those big money items are all taken care of and even though the home is from 1906, you don't have to live like you are.

LIVING HERE
The photos and the floor plan tell just a tiny part of the story. You need to come and experience it for yourself.
There are four living areas that can be used to suit your lifestyle. The original general store and the tea rooms are both living areas. There is a study with extensive built in shelving and a fireplace. Between the old shop and tearoom area is another activity or sitting room. This home is not short of spaces.

The three bedrooms are all spectacular. The master bedroom is particularly impressive, and the ensuite bathroom is immaculate. The kitchen is lovely and offers the practicality of the huge pantry and ample preparation areas. Adjacent to the kitchen is the sun room, a lovely position to enjoy a bit of winter warmth this time of year. That area opens out to the deck and alfresco area. It's quite stunning sitting out here and looking down the valley towards the Canning River.

The huge block has heaps to offer including a mulberry tree that is reportedly about the same age as the house and a brick shed that's been there just as long. The gardens are delightful and completely in keeping with the style of the property. The only problem you'll have here is deciding where you want to be at any one time.

THE WORKSHOP
The 200sqm of workshop is outstanding. It has room for, well pretty much everything, and there's a concrete floor suitable for a hoist as well as three-phase power. Add to that the 70 odd sqm garage/shed alongside it and you've got a brilliant place for any number of projects.

A LITTLE BIT OF THE HISTORY
Maintaining the charm of its heritage you still open the house with same key they did 119 years ago. Sitting on approximately one acre of beautiful land in the Brookton Valley, the residence, was constructed for one of the Buckingham's, a family who pioneered the area. In the 1930s the Buckingham's built tearooms on the property and in the late 1940s when the migrant camp was built nearby, they set up a general store to cater for these new arrivals to Australia. The shop closed in 1958, but the oven in which they baked the scones for the tea rooms still functions and is still in place in the kitchen. The shop and the tea rooms now feature as living areas, yet somehow it just feels like they have a story. Oh, in case you're wondering if you can still run it as a shop or tea rooms these days. Nope. It's a house.
