Everyone wants to feel all *heart-eyes* about their house. Not everyone gets to live in one where there's literally love poured into every corner, every finish, every colour choice, and every well-considered room. For those who are inspired by charm, and uplifted by quirk, this darling cottage will tick all the boxes on the list you're house-hunting with, and some you didn't even know you had! Stepping inside is like opening your favourite art piece and waltzing right in, from the sage green externals inspired by the State Library in Queensland (cool!) to the reclaimed pressed tin in the kitchen (swoon!), every metre of natural material flooring, every cabinet made of solid timber, everything works in harmony to deliver a truly one-in-a-million abode.
If you can ever drag yourself from the warm, welcoming, wood-filled kitchen (just looking at the photos has us imagining the smell of freshly baked blueberry muffins) you'll be equally delighted with the gardens. In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to wrangle the kids back inside for dinner, as they explore the fully fenced and seemingly endless fairyland playground that includes their fort built around a magnificent tree. You'll find them hooning down their own flying fox, swinging away their worries on their tree swing, and bouncing away the day on the trampoline. Family Bocce on the lawn? It's ready. Raiding the fruit trees come Spring? It's ready. Learning how to care for chickens? The chook house is ready too. Oh, and did we mention the giraffes? No, not a typo - the large carob tree out back has an important job to do: every year, the clippings from the carob are donated to the Perth Zoo for their long-necked, carob-loving crew. And who else do you know who has a tree tunnel above a staircase leading from the terrace to the back garden?

The name "Darlington" is derived from adding the English suffix "ton", meaning "town" to the name of the range in the area - Darling Range which was first named "General Darling Range". The name was first used by Dr Alfred Waylen who established the "Darlington Vineyard" here in 1883-4.
Darlington remains one of the few locations in the Perth hills with an early 20th century village ambience. It is known for its vibrant community with seemingly as many committees and groups as it has residents. The suburb has a local general store however residents rely on the the facilities at Midland and Mundaring which are close by. There are also various primary and secondary schools in the area.
