Light up your life

Ready to glow up?

There’s nothing more blissful than owning your own home. Except owning your own beautiful home. This 1950s stunner will dazzle you with her original features. Ornate architraves and sweet ceiling roses. Practical picture rails and polished floorboards. And a pretty verandah overlooking the lush lawn- perfect for watching the world go by. Lovely as these features may be, there are also modern additions that will brighten your day and rock your world. The kitchen is immaculate and spacious, with quality appliances and finishings. And loads of storage, of course. This is a family home, after all, and if you’ve got children you’ll understand the need for plentiful cupboard space (in which to stash your secret snacks). Speaking of littlies, an extension has built this home both up and out, with a brilliant attic space that’s just perfect as an activity room. Skylights in the vaulted ceiling add an airy feel to the living area, and there’s even some gorgeous lead lighting that captures the glow of the sun and casts pretty colours straight into this already radiant space. Rounded out with the most delightful alfresco area out the back, no other home can hold a candle to this one.

Location-wise, you’re close to all the most decadent and delicious spots in town, which will beckon you to sample the coffees, cakes, and cocktails within. Try Mrs. S. Café (800m) or Sherbet (700m) for morning delights, and Volare (700m) or Seasonal Brewing Co. (750m) for evening affairs. Pizzeria Amore Mio (240m) shines like a beacon of hope after a long week at work- grab dinner on your way home and settle in with the family for the best way to ease into weekends. Then again, why waste these balmy evenings indoors? The Maylands social precinct is an easy 700m away, so if you’re feeling tempted by a spot of mingling with mates, now’s the time and here’s the place.

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
