What a little treasure! This is one of the last Railway Cottages in Chidlow which was built in 1915 and is situated across the road from where the railway tracks used to be. A short walk away and you have the Chidlow Tavern, Pharmacy, Caf and Post Office/Newsagency. At the Growers Market on Rosedale Road, there is the local butcher and fuel depot.
> Weatherboard and Iron cottage
> 2 beds, plus sleepout
> Updated bathroom with inside W/C
> Various outdoor sheds
> Large mostly cleared level 3031sqm block
> 2 road access (Herbert and Wilcox Street)
The cottage consists of 2 bedrooms plus a sleepout, cosy lounge with slow combustion heater and split system air conditioner. The kitchen/dining area is very basic, but has a Metters wood stove for cooking and heating and there is a 15amp power box on the wall for a future stove installation. There is no hot water in the kitchen, but there is power under the sink for a HWS to be installed. The bathroom has been updated and includes an inside toilet and the original toilet is still fully functional in the back yard. The dcor inside the cottage now is very light and inviting with cream painted walls and modern look roller blinds on all the windows.
Chidlow is located approximately 45 kilometres from Perth, 12 minute drive to Mundaring Town Centre for Supermarkets, Doctors etc and about a 25 minute drive to Midland where you have Hospitals, Train Station and Shopping Complexes. In Chidlow itself, there is a Kindergarten and Primary School and Eastern Hills High School is a 5 minute drive away in Mt. Helena.
The iconic Lake Leschenaultia is approximately 3 kilometres away for that refreshing swim in summer.
The block has two road accesses. The cottage is situated close to Herbert Street and the rear of the block faces Willcox Street. The property would suit a potential purchaser that would want to build their dream home on the back part of the block facing Willcox Street and then perhaps rent out the cottage to supply an income. The cottage could also be used for an artists/pottery studio or anyone wanting to work from home with the peace and quiet of their own space. This property has a lot of potential for the astute purchaser. This is real country style living, but still so close to suburbia.
If only the wonderful jarrah floorboards could talk. I am sure that they would be able to tell the story of history gone by.
