Properties like this are rare- The name of the Road is the name of the first owner who built the home in 1912 using timber from the block and other materials. The home has been sympathetically renovated keeping many of the original features..
The amazing house sits on the corner of the block allowing full use of the land which started life as the Martin family farm, it has also been a horse property and is now a lifestyle property, with productive mixed orchard, olive grove, dam that has water all year round plus winter creek. The property is on scheme water.
The rustic home is two storey with a large loft , with lounge area and queen sized bedroom (the lounge could be divided to form an extra bedroom plus smaller lounge). The feature staircase gives some division to the very large main living area which accommodates both family area and dining and has views over the property. The kitchen is in keeping with the home and has solid Marri cabinets with Jarrah bench tops, a dishwasher, gas hot plates and large oven, there is a breakfast bar and another area which can be extra dining or study and has the original Metters stove as additional winter heating. The bathroom is modern but suits the home, it is spacious and has a bath and shower and is en-suite to the master bedroom. The master has a generous walk in robe and two windows overlooking the property. The home has 3 spilt system reverse cycle air conditioners and a large slow combustion heater for your year round comfort.
A magnificent large verandah surrounds the home and provides lots of areas for entertaining, bird watching and relaxing. The 10.8m by 7.8m color bond Shed with power, concrete floor and electric roller door provides room for two cars and a work shop.

Permanent settlement in Mundaring began in 1882-84 when Mr Peter Gugeri established a vineyard south of the Eastern Railway. The first railway siding at Mundaring was named after him and for some years the area was generally known as "Gugeris". A later settler, M H Jacoby, took over Gugeris' vineyards in 1893, and named the business the "Mundaring Vineyard Company". The name came from an Aboriginal camp situated nearby and the meaning given to Jacoby by the aborigines was "a high place on a high place". The correct pronunciation was "Mundahring" but common usage has gradually converted this to "Mundairing".
