I asked the owners what they love most about their home; here is their response:

We absolutely love the rich mix of colour. With both of us coming from art / design backgrounds, it was never going to be an ordinary house. It is eclectic and bursting with colour in every room. From our bedroom alone, we can see three completely different colours and they work, because they are the same intensity.

If you like green, come on in! The house displays a variety of greens. From the French door in the hallway you can see the delightful colours of the stained-glass front door in the cool reflection of the Succulent green walls.

To the left is a rich blue 'informal' lounge, to the right is a mango coloured master bedroom. The house is north/south oriented, tiled throughout with high ceilings and quality fans in every room.

We live diagonally opposite a lovely park and on a slight hill, which allows the sea breeze to sweep through after a hot day, cooling everything down, without the need for air conditioning. It is beautifully cool through the summer, cosy and warm through the winter and as easy as opening and closing doors. Being securely blocked off from the street, we feel very safe.

We love having a garden, full of trees, shrubs and flowers. It's a peaceful patch of paradise and tending a garden is the best therapy. In spring the eastern fence overflows with the blossoms and sweet perfume of Chinese Star Jasmine and Gardenia. French doors to the Alfresco offer a view of the back garden and the opportunity to watch the native birds dart to and fro from the birdbath, in their morning caper. From the kitchen window, shaded by a pink flowering Crepe Myrtle, we look out onto flowering shrubs, climbing spring roses and potted herbs, to our cute chickens and their funny antics, in their ever-so-bright coop.

The house is full of custom furniture built by a skilled craftsman. This includes the workshop/shed and garden nook, the amazingly practical yet impressively elegant undercover washing area (brilliant for drying clothes in the winter months), the chicken coop and house, timber fly screens with security mesh, the front bench and the quirky gates. These embellishments make for a unique and creative home.

Lush, water wise gardens with real grass that grows AND helps moderate the temperature surrounding the house; produces oxygen; reduces dust pollution and filters groundwater (thank you to Green Home Guide: How a Healthy Lawn Helps the Environment)
