Forever be royals

Be the envy of all the Lorde’s in this Maylands castle.

Welcome to Maylands’ Peninsula Estate, where you’ll live like royalty in this modern, two-storey home. Grand high ceilings, polished wood floors, and a fireplace will tickle the fancy of any King or Queen, while younger nobles can while away their downtime hours in the plush carpeted bedrooms or fantastic theatre room until you lure them out to the open plan living space. Once they catch wind of the tempting aromas wafting through from the kitchen, they’ll be easily enticed away from gaming, studying, or sleep-ins, ready to join you for a sumptuous meal fit for a banquet hall. When it’s time to unwind, the undercover alfresco entertaining area with its enclosed spa, grassed area, and water feature is like having your own private palace garden. Perhaps the biggest benefit of this spacious home is there’s no need to hire a gardener - all the living is done inside and in the alfresco, making it conveniently free of backyard maintenance. Instead, you can spend your time taking leisurely strolls along the nearby walk and cycle paths along the picturesque Swan River. No need for the carriage to even leave its spot in the garage.

Commuting to the CBD is as easy as waving your sceptre with a bus route around the corner and Maylands train station just 8 minutes away. Take a regal stroll to Noggos Coffee & Kitchen (700m) with your furry companion and continue to the nearby reserve for a leisurely break. Another block towards the Swan gets you to Peninsula Farm Cafe (1.2km) or dinner fit for the aristocracy can be found anywhere in the Maylands Social Precinct in the other direction (1.6km). Nearby Guildford Road offers a culinary kingdom of everything from breakfasts to burgers, or if you’re going to make the most of that fabulous kitchen, local grocery stores are just a quick skip away - and the cycle and walk path is at the end of the street for your alternative transportation pleasure, my liege.

Maylands overview

Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately 4.5 kilometres northeast of Perth, serviced by the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. In 1896 the name "Maylands" was first used to identify the area, appearing on a poster advertising a land auction. However the exact reason how the area got its name is something of a mystery.

The suburb was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. It was home to Perth's main airport until the early 1960s, and the facilities were converted to a training area for the Western Australian Police Service.

Life in Maylands

Maylands is known as a cultural and creative hub as it is home to The West Australian Ballet Centre and home to the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. In recent years, new bars, cafés and restaurants, along with gourmet food and retail outlets have all contributed to an ongoing transformation of the town centre into a lively, diverse and inclusive destination. There are numerous shopping centres in the area, 15 parks and reserves and two primary schools.
