THE HOME

There is a real "down south" feel about this tranquil gem of a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom coastal charmer, surrounded by lush and leafy native gardens and perfectly positioned just footsteps away from picturesque "Class A" Star Swamp Bushland Reserve walking trails, as well as being around the corner from the glorious surf and sand at North Beach.

Take your pick when it comes to sitting and relaxing outside, with a drink in hand. A gated walkway entrance into the property reveals a shady oasis of a front garden - home to a spectacular peppermint tree, a banksia, several other recycled plants from around the area, abundant birdlife, a patio, courtyard area and low-maintenance artificial turf.

At the rear, a fabulous north-facing alfresco-entertaining deck has a ceiling fan and enjoys views out to the sprawling Star Swamp treetops, whilst also overlooking the sunken firepit courtyard down below. In between, you will be charmed by two separate main living areas, a versatile studio, activity room or office/retreat that can easily be converted into a fourth bedroom if need be and a central dining and kitchen area with a remote-controlled skylight, for you to determine just how much natural light you want to filter through - and when.

The back of the property also plays host to a gorgeous deciduous liquid amber tree, several fruit trees, a vegetable patch, an outdoor shower, a chook pen and a live-in Willie Wagtail that comes and goes as it pleases. Talk about feeling right at home!

North Beach overview

The name North Beach began as a descriptive name, derived from the suburb being at the time the most northerly of Perth's beaches. It was assigned in 1888 when surveyor Charles Crossland referred to the pastoral leases of Samuel Richard Hamersley as his "north beach coastal run". The suburb was originally set aside as a timber reserve in the 1860s and then as a quarantine area for camels entering in the 1890s. A number of orchards operated in the area with the only evidence that remains today an old olive tree on Hope Street.

Life in North Beach

Residential styles in North Beach include a mix of holiday dwellings from before and after World War II, some former workers' houses, and modern dwellings. As a residential suburb, North Beach has small shopping areas on the coast and at Flora Terrace and Castle Street which offer basic commercial services. The suburb features a tennis club and has two primary schools - North Beach Primary School and Our Lady of Grace School.
