Natural light, a neutral palette and good proportions fashion a calm parents’ retreat with a walk-in robe and ensuite with adjoining powder room.
In the formal lounge, dual aspect glazing fills the room with natural light, and a doorway to the kitchen makes for easy entertaining. Corner windows bring garden views into the family room, and a sliding door to the north-facing alfresco creates an indoor-outdoor flow.
A separate junior wing comprising three good-sized bedrooms with robes, a walk-through laundry and a separate WC offers ideal accommodation for children of all ages. The largest of the bedrooms has semi-ensuite access to the family bathroom, making it an excellent choice for older kids or guests. Additional space for kids is located at the top of the stairs, where a large, carpeted loft provides an ideal activity or media room or an out-of-the-way private area for study.
The gabled roof and a profusion of rosemary bushes bring the perfect balance of shelter and a sense of the great outdoors to the large outdoor entertaining zone spanning the rear of the home. Permanent settlement in Mundaring began in 1882-84 when Mr Peter Gugeri established a vineyard south of the Eastern Railway. The first railway siding at Mundaring was named after him and for some years the area was generally known as "Gugeris". A later settler, M H Jacoby, took over Gugeris' vineyards in 1893, and named the business the "Mundaring Vineyard Company". The name came from an Aboriginal camp situated nearby and the meaning given to Jacoby by the aborigines was "a high place on a high place". The correct pronunciation was "Mundahring" but common usage has gradually converted this to "Mundairing".
Known as the heart of the Perth hills, Mundaring is located on the eastern edge of the Perth Hills. It offers stunning walking and cycling trails, spectacular state forest and national parks and home to the historic Mundaring Weir.
