This estate name comes from the name of James Morrison, who originally released a land subdivision in this area in 1929. Morrison Road which extends from Woodbridge through to Swan View was named after him and a number of streets within Hazelmere are named after children.
There are stories that James Morrison whose family came from London saw similarities in the location to that of Hazlemere in Buckinghamshire in England - thus the origin of the suburb name.
* To find out more there is a book written by Anne Marshall which was a Project of the Hazelmere Progress Association (Inc) published in 2008.

Hazelmere is a suburb of Perth approximately 15 kilometres east of the Perth CBD within the City of Swan. Bordered by Roe Highway to the east and the Great Eastern Highway to the south, Hazelmere is at the northern edge of Perth Airport land.
Hazelmere is a small suburb with larger sized blocks and as such has a very low crime rate. Its relatively close to both Perth city and Midland with a train line that runs from Perth to Hazelmere every 20 minutes. The strategic location of the residential lots in Hazelmere is considered by the City of Swan to be appropriate for higher density housing, and as a result a number of lots are currently under consideration for increased zoning.
