• West Australians to benefit from Our Priorities: Sharing Prosperity program for generations

REIWA congratulates the WA Government on the launch of its Our Priorities: Sharing Prosperity program, which aims to deliver better outcomes for all West Australians.

Our Priorities: Sharing Prosperity establishes 12 key priorities to address important issues facing WA. These targets will drive change in six outcome areas and include measurable targets to hold the WA Government accountable and increase collaboration between community, local government, service providers, business and industry.

REIWA President Damian Collins said the program was a positive step for the state, with 45 per cent more homes planned to be built around public transport by 2031 and 150,000 local jobs expected to be created.

“This kind of long-term strategic thinking is something WA has been crying out for and will go a long way towards improving the livability and viability of our state for future generations. The WA Government should be congratulated on their innovative approach to driving positive outcomes for West Australians.

“In particular, the program’s emphasis on building METRONET and increasing the number of homes built in the Perth and Peel region within one kilometre of public transport will have a transformative effect on our state, allowing West Australians for many generations to come to be better connected to their work, communities and entertainment precincts,” Mr Collins said.

Our Priorities: Sharing Prosperity also endeavours to increase the number of employed persons in regional WA by 30,000 by 2023-24.

“This will have immense benefits for regional WA, which has experienced its fair share of hardship following the slowdown in the mining industry. More local jobs will aid population growth in the regions and have a positive knock-on effect to the regional property markets and wider economy,” Mr Collins said.
