  • Local real estate agents team up with The Salvation Army to provide hope this Christmas

    New

Through the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia’s Community REInvest program, local property agents have teamed up with The Salvation Army to provide hope to those in need this Christmas.

Participating agents will act as local collection points to the public that wish to donate items to The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Appeal.

REIWA’s Community REInvest is a philanthropic initiative designed to help agents and property managers support The Salvation Army with both financial and material aid in Western Australia.

More than 300,000 Australians will turn to The Salvation Army over the Christmas period as they struggle with the festive pressures. Recent surveys show 96 per cent of clients are facing a high rent and low income situation, and 56 per cent were forced to cut down on basic necessities.

Warren Palmer, Public Relations Secretary at The Salvation Army said he was really grateful for the support WA agents were providing., more and more people in need are turning to The Salvation Army for assistance and to be able to fill their cupboards with festive foods and provide gifts for their children has a lasting impact on someone’s life.

REIWA President Hayden Groves said every contribution, big or small, would make a difference to those sleeping rough on our streets this Christmas.

“The holiday season can be an exceptionally difficult time for the homeless in our community. This is the fourth year REIWA and its agents have been involved in the Salvos’ Annual Christmas Appeal, and in that time we’ve seen just how generous West Aussies can be. I encourage the WA community to band together and dig deep to help make this year’s appeal the best yet.

“You can donate unwrapped gifts or non-perishable food items to one of the designated REIWA agency collection points near you. The Salvos need gifts to suit all age groups, so any item you donate will be put to good use. Alternatively, you can visit the Salvos’ website to make a monetary donation,” Mr Groves said.
