• Let's dig deep for those struggling this holiday season

    Author: REIWA President Damian Collins

The holiday season is fast approaching us and for many it is a joyous time that we spend with family and friends.

However there are those who can find it an exceptionally difficult time due to the added pressures that the cost of Christmas brings.

More than 300,000 Australians will turn to The Salvation Army over the Christmas period as they struggle with financial pressure.

As partner of The Salvation Army, REIWA is encouraging West Australians to get behind the Salvos’ Annual Christmas Appeal to help bring holiday cheer to those families in WA this festive season.

REIWA and its agents are proud to partner with the Salvos as part of our Community REInvest initiative, a philanthropic program which provides support to help the Salvos continue their vital work in WA, particularly in response to homelessness.

Our members see the Community REInvest program as a way of giving back to the community through a profession that is very closely involved in people’s lives and personal situations, and are passionate in helping with the Christmas Appeal.

This is the sixth year we have been involved in the Appeal and it’s always heartwarming to see how generous West Australians can be.

Christmas can be a really challenging time for those who are doing it tough and this is just a small way we can help these people feel less alone.

From 18 November to 12 December, I encourage you to visit one of the 30 real estate agency collection points across Perth, to donate unwrapped gifts or non-perishable food items, and meet the dedicated agents who are helping bring some much needed joy to those struggling this festive season.

We even have two agencies in Albany and Dunsborough which can receive your donations. The Salvos need gifts to suit all age groups, so any item you donate will be gratefully received.

If you don’t have time to visit a collection point, you can always donate online, with all the details on reiwa.com’s In the Community page.
